Review summary
We have sailed on 2 Princess cruises in the recent past (both were on the Grand Princess) before sailing on the Caribbean Princess. In comparison, this ship was as nice as the Grand, but on a larger scale. We never felt crowded in any one place. The Princess theater had many empty seats 5 minutes prior to any show performance, so we never felt we had to go extra early to get good seats. We always managed to find seats in the first few rows for any show we attended, early or late. Food quality was excellent and all wait staff who served us (we were on Personal Choice dining and had different tables each night) were very attentive and caring to please us. Nothing seemed too difficult for them to handle. The buffets in the Horizon Court were crowded at times and if you went at a "peak" time there was difficulty in finding a table for two. However, when we saw a large table occupied by another group of 2 we asked if they wouldn't mind sharing and no one said the seats were being saved; we were always invited to join them. The port stops were fine. The staff was accomodating and helpful in getting the passengers off the ship in the most efficient way. We enjoyed the trip to Dunn's River Falls in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, but we disliked any shopping in Ocho Rios and we would prefer not going back to Jamaica again (this was our 2nd time in Jamaica) for the interference of our privacy. This was the first time in a long while that we cruised alone and with "personal choice" dining we were really alone throughout the whole cruise. For those couples that don't like that privacy, we would recommend the traditional seating, early or late, where the dining staff will put you at a table that might be conducive to dinner conversation and a chance to meet other passengers. Given the chance to cruise again. we would have no qualms about cruising again on Caribbean Princess.Ports of call

Pros: royal treatment, very clean throughout, caring staff, all activities we attended ran smoothly, food excellent
Cons: one of the bands playing in a lounge made no attempt to mix with the passengers or each other
