Review summary

Lovely ship, lovely friendly captain and crew. Can't wait to get back on board in 4 months time.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Bit cramped on the coach from Barbados Airport

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Speciality restaurant excellent as usual, the MDR was good but not great.

Meridian Restaurant

4 out of 5

Good food, good service (although a lot less waiting staff therefore service a lot slower than on previous cruises). Couple of ties food was only luke warm.

The Glass House

4 out of 5

Wine tasting evening. Good wine and good food, would have been 5 star if the music could have been turned down. Most of the visitors that evening complained about the music and we were given a full refund. Would definitely go back when the music problem has been sorted out.

The Beach House

4 out of 5

Great wine tasting evening, good food, good wine and lovely staff. Would have been 5 stars if it was not for the loud music blasting in from the Atrium which could not be turned down in The glass House.

Horizon Restaurant

2 out of 5

Ok at night for hot chocolate and late night snacks. Bit of a bun fight at other meal times. We avoid this place at all costs.

Epicurean

5 out of 5

As we had a suite we had our breakfast here, it was lovely, not a large selection on the breakfast menu but enough. Ate twice here in the evening and the extra charge was well worth it, good food and good service.

Peninsular Restaurant

4 out of 5

Same as Meridian service a bit slower as less waiting staff.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did not get involved with many activities.

Explorers

2 out of 5

Has a couple of trips cancelled, went to try and book something else and the young man there could not have been more disinterested, when we asked what was available he just said go and look and when we had found something he said fully booked - on at least 3 occasions. We gave up in the end. This is attitude is unusual as normally staff really helpful and keen to book another trip for us. Have now been looking at tours with other operators.

Serenity Pool & Bar

5 out of 5

Love this adult only area, gets a bit busy on sea days. Still get people reserving sunbeds and not returning for hours on end.

Reception

5 out of 5

Reception staff always friendly and helpful.

Photo Gallery

5 out of 5

Excellent photo package, £99 for unlimited photos.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Good acts in The Limelight Club, Headliners were good but seen a lot of the shows before.

The Limelight Club

5 out of 5

Best venue on board, great acts especially Chesney Hawkes. Good menu, but if you don't fancy anything on there I believe you can order from restaurant menu.

The Live Lounge

3 out of 5

Good venue but dies get very crowded. Packed on last bingo game especially.

The Crow's Nest

4 out of 5

Nice quiet area in the day time but busy in the evenings. Nice to sit, relax and listen to the music

The Cookery Club

4 out of 5

Been to the Cookery Club a few times, usually very good with good food and chef. We tried the Thai Street Food course, really good, food a bit bland, could have done with spicing up a bit but appreciate some people do not like spicy food. Was spoilt this time by one mouthy passenger who thought he knew more than the resident chef. We left as soon as we had eaten as had enough of listening to him.

Atrium

5 out of 5

Lovely new Atrium after refit, more seating area and very relaxing and comfortable.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, especially our cabin steward and butler.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Looking good after the refit. Wonderful Atrium.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Try the select dining, always best food on board.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
Boarded here no trip.

Funchal, Madeira

5 out of 5
Love Madeira, like to go to Reids Hotel for afternoon tea, there is a trip from the ship but easy to get a taxi and go yourself.

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5
Like the port area, good shops. unfortunately our P&O trip was cancelled.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

4 out of 5
Went on the Railway and cruise P&O trip, really good.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Seatrek trip - brilliant. Then back to the Rum Therapy for some rum punch, always good time held by all, before the rush back on board before sailing.

Kingstown, St. Vincent

3 out of 5
Not keen on St Vincent, local people are not very welcoming. Had our P&O trip cancelled so we stayed on board.

Bridgetown, Barbados

3 out of 5
Barbados usually good but stayed on board this time as flying back to UK same day.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Was ok but coach back to airport was cramped, and bit chaotic at the boarding gate. Some passengers on the TUI flight had no food as the ovens were not in use, we were ok as we were in premium seats on the plane. - Lot's of unhappy passengers in economy.
