Review summary

This was our second cruise aboard Britannia our first being in 2017 after reading some of the comments on this site since then we were a bit sceptical people commenting about staff that were uninterested and standards dropping, nothing could be further from the truth. From the moment we stepped aboard nothing was a bother for anyone, ice and lemon left in our fridge every evening from Donald our cabin steward dining room staff were so good.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Less than 20 minutes from arriving at the terminal to sitting in the atrium with a drink.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room was better than ever, food was much hotter served on hot plates which makes all the difference. Sindu was as good as always but the highlight of the cruise food wise was the pairing menu in the glass house 4 courses with 4 different wines was excellent.

The Glass House

5 out of 5

As soon as you get on board go to the glass house and book the pairing menu.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The only problem we have is that after a leisurely breakfast 10.00 was to early for dance classes.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The entertainment/shows we went to were fine, we don’t go on holiday for the entertainment if it’s good that’s a bonus to us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
After reading some of the comments on this site before going on our cruise we were a bit sceptical about the level of service after P&O had removed the gratuities. No need to worry the levels have not dropped in our opinion every member of staff we came across could not be more helpful: bar staff, waiting staff & cabin steward were superb.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Britannia is not everyone’s cup of tea but once you get used to her she is fine to get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
In side cabin was all that we could want. Shower is better than Ventura in that it is variable and you you get a glass door not a curtain.

Ports of call

Cadiz (Spain)

5 out of 5
We love Cádiz it’s a great city to walk around. Lunch at the market paella and a beer for €3 each can’t be bad.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

4 out of 5
For us Gibraltar is just a stop to get some cheap booze

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Took the river cruise and walking tour. Very little river and lots of walking some of the site were unavailable because the Rome marathon was on the Sunday we were there. If you have any mobility issues this not the tour for you lots of walking.

Cartagena, Spain

5 out of 5
First time in Cartagena just got off the ship and had a walk around the town had some tapas and visited the Roman theatre.

Florence/Pisa

5 out of 5
We went on the tour to Florence saw all the main site and had a very nice lunch

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Love Barcelona, yes it’s very busy if you don’t like crowds don’t get off the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No complaints took a little longer than usual to get off but found our cases no problems.
