Review summary

Another great cruise aboard Britannia. Our first cruise , which was last year was a fly cruise to the Caribbean so we were a little unsure of what to expect with a cruise where more time was spent at sea rather on land. However the sea days were spent relaxing, which is part of what holidays are for, and we found them to be enjoyable. The food and service in the MDR’s was again 1st class. Don’t think we had the same meal twice. We usually like a table on our own, however a few times we did share and found this good also, the vast majority of other passengers were friendly and good company. We enjoyed the entertainment both in the live lounge and the headliners. Did attend a couple of the sail always on the lido deck, noisy but fun. The combination of a meal and entertainment, Eric and Earnie, in the Limelight club was fantastic. My only observation / complaint would be that P&O should adhere to their rules regarding putting towels out early and leaving the sun lounger unused for hours. This could also apply to rules regarding dress code. Would I sail with P&O again Yes Would I sail on Britannia again Yes Would I recommend both to friends and family Yes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We mainly ate in the MDR’s for breakfast and evening meals. Every meal taken was excellent, well presented and given with 1st class service. We did have lunch in the glass house once and the food was very very tasty, we had the burger slider. The odd time we used the Buffet for breakfast or for a bit of lunch we found the food good but the place just to busy.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Didn’t do any activities apart from using the serenity pool and area for sunbathing and swimming, we found this to be a nice area. Was partially spoilt by people putting towels out before 8am and then not returning for 4+ hours. We were okay though as we are early rises, so had breakfast and found a lounger to suit us by 8.30am.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall the entertainment was good, there was some excellent stuff, e.g. Eric and Earnie, Jimmy James and Pulse.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great service, no complaints

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All good, we found the ship layout etc very good, never had problems with lifts or stairs. Vast majority of areas were well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As expected, we did have the same cabin on our first cruise which was last year. The first night we found it to be too warm, we mentioned it to the cabin steward, and it was fixed the next day, a card was left in the room telling us it had been fixed., I wrote thank you on the card and returned it to reception

Ship tip

Do your research, I hate it when people complain about dress code, alcohol policy etc. When it’s all explained on the website

Brilliant, again did our own thing, visiting lots of the landmarks and also had a swim in the sea.

Florence/Pisa

5 out of 5
Did the Pisa and Florence on your own tour. Florence was a beautiful place, bit hot and busy, Pisa was nice and was what we expected
