Good service. Food pretty good. Poor background music in Windjammer, no need. Roomy cabin. Clean ship. Fast embark/disembark. Entertainment OK. Good ports. Great Disco Inferno. More dance venues with top 40. Excellent room steward Ikomang Arcaya. Excellent dining servers Tadium and Preshant.

Royal Caribbean Cruise review 04 08 17

The web site said the family cabin 1054 bedrooms would be configured as one royal king bed and one double bed. Upon arrival the second bedroom could not be set up as a double bed. This was a problem for our son and his wife having to sleep apart on their first romantic cruise.

We had also requested a medical refrigerator for medicine, the one in the cabin did not work so a small red refrigerator was brought in as a replacement. This unit did not work either. Finally a small electric cooler was brought to our cabin that worked. The unit had to sit on the floor, in the way of walking. Our medicine could not be kept cool for the first 36 to 40 hours.

Also in the main dining room we had had a party of five and they tried to seat us at a table for four with tight space. When we requested a larger table for our party of five the staff placed a five top in the same space as the four top which did not have the room for my wife or my self to sit. We had to squeeze in to our seats. Our 2 ½ year old grand child’s chair was pushed as close to the table as it could get because of the guests at another table had to have room. Because of your over site we spent the rest of our cruise searching for a comfortable place to eat. Both times your staff insisted it was our fault.

When we did make reservations at your specialty restaurant people who arrived after us had eaten and left before we received our meal.  Your staff kept telling us our food was on the way, it never came.  We left hungry again looking for food.

The concierge tried to correct the problems by offering another cabin for our son, his wife and daughter.  This was all she could do but did not fit our needs as we wanted to spend time with our children so we made do.

On top of everything else we had contacted customer service to confirm the requests for a medical refrigerator, bedroom configurations and dining room seating and was assured all would be ready.

Improvement Needed by Cruiser79618549

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

There is definitely improvement needed in the cleanliness of the ship and staterooms. Also, the food in both the main dinning room and casual dining food quality desires improvement.

Great time, improvement needed in the bar service by bcln4553

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time, however improvement is needed in the bars.  The pub did not have most of the beers listed on its menu, the schooner bar could not make all the drinks on its menu do to limited materials and most of the bars had limited staff which catered to the Steeler's group and it was had to get a drink at times.

Worst cruise EVer by gmorris24neveag

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Everything closed down at 7pm on the lido deck.   Statement refrigerator didn't work, toilet wouldn't flush and the balcony rail was sticky.   Shows wasn't Royal Caribbean normal standards.   Food was ok but they cut out the lobster for formal night unless you wanted to pay $29.95 for it.  Ship was small, old and not updated.

Was great except..... by smparker1021

Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The BOTS crew was great, ship was clean, food was good; however I was extremely disappointed in the Casino. On our first night we visited and there was a extremely loud and obnoxious passenger gambling at the Roulette table so we decided to leave, chalking it up to his excitement. :/ On our last night we returned to spend our evening there and we were playing at a different Roulette table having fun when that same gentleman came onto the table and was again very demanding, loud and disrespectful to the staff member. Another female passenger made some comments loudly about his behavior and he unleashed on her calling her disrespectful names and was extremely loud and offensive. The pit boss came over and did NOTHING! The whole table was disturbed by his behavior. The rude man was spending a lot of money but that is NO excuse for his behavior. I am VERY disappointed in how the casino staff handled the situation. My husband and I ended up leaving the casino and the whole event left a terrible mark on our evening. I don't expect a cruise ship to be like Vegas but there should be general rules that ALL people who are gambling should adhere too! I am not sure I will travel again on this line and certainly not spend the additional money on gambling in their casino if I do.

Great vacation by Richelle15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed every part of the trip.  The port days were fun.  We rented a 6 person golf cart to ride around Key West, found a nice beach for a few hours, then hit the shops before getting back on the boat.  In Cozumel we took a taxi to Carlos and Charlie's beach cafe and spent the day sunning and swimming and eating at a beachside getaway.  Then did some shopping in town before getting back on the boat.

For dinners we had the my time dining but reserved a time each night which worked out great.  We had two great waiters, Dennis and Niton, who catered to our every want and need.  The food was outstanding!!  The buffet, windjammer, is what we ate for breakfast and lunch, that was pretty good too, a good selection.  We also enjoyed the cafe in the solarium for snacks between meals.

We we had four teenagers with us, the second day at sea got a little boring for them because they did everything on the boat the first day at sea.  They were also not huge sunseakers, if you like to lay in the sun then the sea days are nice and relaxing.

This was our first cruise and would definitely book another from Royal Caribbean.

Average at best by jcweidler

Small ship with very limited activities, definitely not a family friendly boat,  the main dining room food was not very good so we were forced to pay an up charge to eat at the steakhouse and Italian restaurants, both which were excellent. overall the cruise was average at best, I would be reluctant to Recommend this ship anyone.

going down hill by LisaH13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was well kept. The food was awful in the buffet and main dining room. They ran out of chocolate chip cookies on day 2 of the 5 day cruise. 2 cookies no one knew what they were. The cookies were crisp not soft and moist. the burgers were over cooked. The turkey and chicken stringy. In the past the food that was in the main dining room would be served in the buffet no longer the case. You could no longer board the boat and go to the main dining room you had to go to the buffet where finding a seat was extremely difficult. Room service menu has very few selections and they now charge after 10 pm which is ridiculous. No more music or band playing in the pool area. they played the same video on the big screen over the pool. The bar tenders were great. The drinks were plenty strong. The entertainment was good. The blackjack table is now $20 which is ridiculous that they don't offer a $6 dollar or even a $10 table or hour to play. Bingo is expensive 3 games for $45. The staff is friendly and the steward in charge of making sure people wash their hands prior to entering the buffet did a FANTASTIC job and was great with the difficult people who tried to avoid using the hand sanitizer at the door. They only do animal towels every other day. For my husband and I had the food been better and had they even put in piped in Caribbean or any type of music by the pool it would have been a much better cruise.

Overall great time by kdberglund

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my husbands first cruise, my 3rd.  Everything from the staff to the food was amazing.  The food included in the "main dining" everyday was high quality restaurant food to where we didn't even entertain the idea of going to the "special" dining restaurants.  The five day cruise was the perfect length, we just started feeling like we were ready to go home on the last day.  In the future, I would book the excursions through the cruiseline instead of with travel agency since the excursion we booked left without us because the ship arrived after the excursion time.  Luckily we were able to book something on the island, so we ended up snorkeling after all.  We are already looking forward to booking another cruise to another destination next year.  :)

Cruise Vacation by jjsullivan54

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I enjoyed our time on "The Brilliance of the Seas".  My favorite part was the Excursions on Grand Cayman and Cozumel.  As far as the ship activities...dinner in the main dining room was delicious every night and the shows were very entertaining.  The performers were very talented.  I was disappointed in the extra charge for some of the activities.  For example, a $30.00 charge to attend a cupcake decorating class.  I feel that onboard activities and classes should be included in the initial fee. I also feel as though we should have been given a complimentary bottle of water when embarked in Cozumel.  But overall the cruise ship was well maintained and we had a great vacation.

Nearly perfect by markbano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First time cruising Royal Caribbean, and was very pleased. The food in the main dining room and specialty restaurants was excellent, and the entertainment was top notch. The only down side of the experience was that the blackjack tables at the casino were $15 dollar minimum, which is a bit high for someone who enjoys a more casual gambling experience.

Cozumel Cruise Review by michaeleberta

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise experience and we were not disappointed. We were impressed with how organized the whole operation was; from boarding the ship to exiting the ship. The ship was very clean, our room (balcony) was very comfortable, our steward was extremely attentive, the food was plentiful and delicious, wait staff (Peter and Raphael- we requested them every night) were fun and professional,on board activities were constant and diverse. Our only complaint was minor and it involved the package drink sales pitch at the beginning was confusing and misleading.Happy

The food, service and entertainment  were all a "10". I would take the same cruise again. The ports of call offered a lot of options for shore activities.

Too many gamblers by pamelajbrackett

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was lovely and the staff was excellent.  The only complaint I have is that there were too many gambling cruisers with free rooms.  They not only overtook the casino, they were fighting with each other, allowed to smoke which infiltrated all the the central areas and they were rude.  Those of us who paid for our cruise were not impressed.
