Review summary

One of the best cruises with Royal we’ve ever been on. Would do it again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food quality was excellent in all venues.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the pool in solarium and husband loved the daily pickleball games and tournaments.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Excellent shows and entertainment. There was almost too much going on and difficult to find a quiet place to watch a football game or read. Example in pub, we just wanted, like many, to watch the football game, yet they scheduled a trivia game. Staff member found it difficult to run the game with all the interest in games on tv.

Children's Programs

No children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room attendant was excellent always asking how we were and if we needed anything. Noticed that there was an absence of waiters serving coffee, juice, etc in Windjammer. Saw them but never received service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This is our favourite size ship, the radiance class. Easy to get around, love that you can continuously walk around the ship on 5th level. Not crowded and always a seat in theatre for shows.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We usually have a balcony, but none available when we booked. Oceanview ok but prefer a balcony to have the option of getting fresh air.

Ship tip

Join a Facebook page for date of your cruise. Very informative in preparing for cruise.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
We stayed at airport hotel and took a private limo service to port. Next time we would stay in Long Beach, closer to port, and tour the area.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Small port (only tendered port on this cruise) and didn’t have time to explore due to an excursion. Did a metate cooking class and was excellent.

Huatulco, Mexico Did not visit port

Weather deterred us from stopping here.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

4 out of 5
Nice port with buses ready to take us one hour away for zip lining and tram tour. Cancelled due to thunder and lightning being only 3 miles out. They switched us to tram and butterfly tour and Royal reimbursed us plus gave a 30% discount on switched tour. Pretty decent of Royal to do this.

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
Excellent experience going through the entire canal. Definitely the highlight of cruise.

Cartagena, Colombia

2 out of 5
Although it is one of the most beautiful ports with a bird sanctuary, restaurant and shop, the city of Cartagena was not an enjoyable experience. We did an old city and food tasting tour. Traffic congestion getting to old city, the constant peddling of goods and performances was very uncomfortable.

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
So much to see and do in this city. We spent 3 days here at end of cruise. Second time here, so did an airboat tour with Ultimate Swamp Adventures which was awesome. Also a must see is the WWII museum. Need a full day or even two days to see it all.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Congested and disorganized getting to our luggage.
