Ship: Brilliance of the Seas

Review summary

Had a wonderful time and weather was excellent. Apparently this was the cruise directors first time. The activities schedule was messed up most days; some folks were really vexed by it. The service was outstanding and we had a fantastic time. Just relax and enjoy!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Was a breeze, on board and at the buffet by 11:30 am.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We mostly ate in the Windjammer buffet. Good variety and great service. For dinner, we were assigned to a table for 10 although only 6 showed up. The big table was difficult to converse so we tried to get a smaller table without much success.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was a wide variety of trivia contests available daily which we enjoyed. Also attended all the enrichment lectures offered (about 12).

Entertainment

3 out of 5
This was a little disappointing. The acts provided were ok but nothing really outstanding.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Outstanding almost across the entire staff. We were impressed how genuinely all staff seemed committed to us having the best cruise possible.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Cleaning was continuous. Overall appearance was fine.

Cabin / Stateroom

Bed and pillows were just right, very comfortable.

Ports of call

Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Nice town but was 2 mile walk from where our ship docked. Lot's of people took a taxi or shuttle but kinda expensive @ $11/ ea. Town center was rather small.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Nice town. Although we were in a small B&B one mile from the dock, we easily walked down the sidewalk with our rollerbags to board the ship.

Cartagena, Spain

5 out of 5
Pretty and clean town, very pedestrian friendly.

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
End of our cruise. Was pleased to see that there was a shuttle immediately outside of the cruise terminal that was $10/ ea to go to the airport.

Santa Cruz De La Palma, Canary Islands

5 out of 5
Nice clean town and easily walkable from the ship, just follow the blue line painted on the sidewalk. Lots of shops.

Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands

5 out of 5
We did a NCL excursion at this port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Was a breeze.
