Review summary

This ship may one of the older, and smaller ships, but boy she had loads of character.

Plenty of on-board activities to suit all ages, helped by friendly and attentive staff. The restaurants provided a great and varied selection of foods and wines again served with a smile and friendly conversation

The ports and shore trips were varied and well supported, customer services were helpful. Entertainment was generally good some great musicians in the Centrum Atrium and Schooner bar.

On-board shopping was lively and everybody seemed to enjoy the experience.

The whole cruise was so enjoyable, that we have booked Brilliance next year.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the Minstrel Restaurant every evening. Our table was the same every night with no queuing and at table 303 we were looked after by Antonio and Gerard who were always happy and provided us with advice on the various dishes. I like my steaks blue and they were cooked to perfection. Antonio always provided helpful information on the next port of call. By the second night Gerard knew what we wanted to drink, so we never had to call him. Head waiters called every day to the tables for breakfast, lunch and dinner to ensure we were happy the food and service.

Service and Staff

Excellent, friendly and helpful and always happy to stop for chat. One day we had a very friendly talk with some of the engineering lads who were working on the deck. Every cleaner would always greet us with a smile and greeting

Cabin / Stateroom

Adequate size and good storage. We had a fantastic housekeeper Julia who looked after every need and kept our room spotless. Every time we met she would stop for a chat to see what we had been up to. She went on a visit to Malta which we told her about and she was so happy. A ray of sunshine 24 hours a day

Ship tip

Relax, and take your time, and have patience with the various customer services and shore excursion staff they will attend to you in time. After all you are on holiday so enjoy it, don't raise your blood pressure

Again took little train again which stopped at various points where you could get off and later back on. They go around every 45 minutes, we got off at the large street market , the after some refreshment we caught the train back to the ship

Fantastic port and all the trips are well organised with excellent guides. When you come back to the port there are numerous shops offering a great selection of gifts

Santorini, Greece

We booked the Fira / Oia trip. We queued at the theatre for our badges, and then directed to our bus at the dockside. On boarding the bus there were more people than seats, not a good start. Then directed to another bus so we departed late, and were then treated to whistle-stop tour of the island with no photo stops. Next we stop at a winery where we were given a teaspoonful of 3 wines to taste. Food was scarce as we were late so the choice was not great. We were then shown where we had to go to queue for the cable-car and advised to allow for a 15 minute wait. We joined the queue which was in the open, with no shade on a very hot day.Strangely the queue took us on quite a strenuous climb, passing lots of shops. It took 1 hour and 40 minutes of queuing to reach the cable car to take us down to the tender station. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND AVOID THAT TOUR

Valletta, Malta

We Valletta and 3 cities cruise. It was a fantastic tour, starting with walking round Valletta, our guide was excellent , before boarding a tourist boat. We spent 2 hours on the cruise with plenty photo opportunities, again the guide was excellent. A trip to remember

Read this ship has had an extensive upgrade including additional restaurants and other areas. So should be good. Went on Liberty of the Seas two years ago for our 48th Wedding Anniversary and my 70th Birthday - it had also been upgraded - had the best time of our lives for dining excursions entertainment bars - had singer in pub pick us out to sing songs for on both occasions - not disappointed with a single thing! !!

I didn't even consider getting on a ship with 6500 passengers!!! I'll stick with the small ships thank you!!!

Great to hear good reports. First cruise in 10 days. Getting really excited but then I'll read a review about Brilliance being old and shabby and I get worried. My spirits are lifted reading these comments!

We were on Brilliance for a four night cruise this spring and really enjoyed her.
