Enjoyable Trip by yanan31359

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Just love Azamara Club Cruises. Always a great crew and always wonderful food, especially given the fact that fresh food was brought aboard at ports and became part of the menus!!! The staff is always friendly and helpful and remembers who you are as well. Senior Officers are always available and approachable. Their mid voyage feedback survey is reviewed and responses are immediate in nature regardless if your comments are good or not so good. They are answered by the manage of the area on which you commented on. Little gifts from the cruise line are always in your cabin (ie, a piece Delft porcelain). Embarkation and Debarkation is well organized and quick. The only thing about this cruise is that there was nothing much to see and do as well as excursions in Bremerhaven and Honfleur.

Great ship, small (650 passengers). The captain was outstanding, very visible around the ship. Specialty dinning was great. Main dining room service was poor. Food was excellent. Itinerary was excellent. Cabin attendant was exceptional. Buffet was nice. by jbshipmate

This was our four Azamara Cruise having done 170 cruises in 30 years. One of our favorite ships and captain. A very nice experience except for the dining room service.

Suez Canal is so cool - Last time I was in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt 1975 there were only 6 tombs, now over 60. UAE is a phenomenal urban development. by MarkDances

Fascinating itinerary and great fellow passengers. Azamara has great staff to keep us happy. We visited the Regent Ship for dinner with friends when they caught up to us in Dubai. They have a beautiful ship, seeing the contrast in their additional star rating was remarkable.

Nice Trip by BarryChuddy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Iberian Peninsula

The trip was great, but the ship was too small. Our tour guide, Dana Olmstead was outstanding. We were constantly being harassed to upgrade out drink package.

It was so disappointing by UnhappyCamper4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: United Kingdom

Any ship with cabins that small for two isnt a luxury ship, especially with such limited activities for those who werent golfers. If it had been stated that emphasis would be on golfing activities only, I might not have expected so much.

Trip of a Lifetime by cdndave

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Scandinavia

This cruise was one that was on our "bucket list" and it really covered our wishes. We saw so many sights that we have only dreamed of seeing. We crossed the Arctic Circle and received a Certificate of Accomplishment. The Captain, Johannes Tysse, was very funny and very approachable. He made the trip a wonderful experience.

Seven night itinerary from Lisbon.... by ma633

Sail date: /
Ship: Azamara Journey

Seven night itinerary from Lisbon. The excursions were great, very comfortable room (deluxe balcony ) , bar service very good , room attendant wonderful . Our favourite part of the ship was the the Living Room. Anton, the guitar player and soloist, was truly talented and we made sure to listen to him several times. We booked the Night in Private places with the room credit we received, and it was well worth it, Would love to do another cruise on Azamara.

Barcelona to Lisbon - What Fun! by MarieDMorrison

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We have sailed on Azamara three times... we obviously like it! We have never had any thing less than an excellent vacation on this cruise line. Starting with the Captain - He was always friendly and willing to stop and take a photo. He has a great sense of humor. We ran into the doctor in the library one night; he was a pleasure to speak with also. The wait staff, the bartenders, and the room stewards were always professional and appeared to remember each of us. It is so nice to be on a ship of this size even though it means you have a smaller pool and less entertainment choices. Having sailed on other larger cruise ships in the past I will always come back to the smaller midsized ships. No bands of rowdy teenagers running the halls and not a lot of small children taking over the pool. I love kids but I'm at an age where I like a little peace and quiet when I come back from shore excursions.

The food is very good but it is excellent in the specialty restaurants. The upcharge is minimal and well worth it. While at the Chef's Table dinner I had the best dessert in the whole world! It was like absorbing a lemon cloud! (I believe they called it a Limencello Souffle.)

We had a special send off because the sister ship Quest was in Barcelona at the same time. They left port together and there was a joint departure party on the decks of both ships. A fun way to start the trip!

The ports of call were fabulous. I must confess that we never book shore excursions through the cruise line because of the size of those groups. We prefer smaller groups catered to our specific desires. We were able to find wonderful private tours at all our stops.

All in all, this was a wonderful trip. Cudos to Azamara! They do vacation right!Big Smile

Nice looking ship, great people, hard to find comfortable spaces/seating & lousy food. by SNT

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Transatlantic

SHIP: Although beautifully appointed with new carpet, furnishings, it was hard to find a comfortable chair or sofa. Seats we either too deep, too upright, too hard, no arms or too slanted.(I swear the bar stools on 5 in Spirits were designed to have you slide off!)   There were a barrel type club chairs in the Discoveries bar and up on 10 in the living room.  But there were also acrylic & metal mesh patio chairs up there too....

FOOD: mediocre at best, inedible at times.  Even in the specialty restaurants the food was just OK, not special.  No flavor to the French onion soup, most dishes salty tasting, chicken & shrimp pad Thai came out to the table with just noodles & sauce - when brought to the attention off the waiter, he noted that this was his second of these complInts but did he bring out chicken/shrimp? No.

EXCEPTIONS: the cheeseburgers & fries at the grill on 9 were really good and the steak although not great was much better than in the dining room or the steak house. The frozen yogurt was terrific!

STAFF: wonderfully friendly - always with a smile.

SUMMARY: this was a great disappointment for we were really looking forward to being a bit upscale (price/amenities) from celebrity & were thinking it wood be similar to Oceania's small ships in food/comfort/service.  Not even close.NervousNervous

Best Cruise EVER by TravlinArchitec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We had a FANTASTIC time on this trip.  The crew of the Journey reminds me of what cruising used to be.  Impeccable service delivered by happy crew.  Most important, and lost on the other guys, is the ATTITUDE of the ENTIRE staff.  Never an excuse (and really never a reason for one).  Ship is clean and neat.  The decor could use an "update" in style (kinda oldish for me).  Ports of call were UNBELIEVABLE.   This is NOT a party ship.  All live entertainment and bars were closed a bit past 11pm.  A main show, guitar player and piano man who both had overdone sound tracks to cover for their playing.  But because the ports were SOOOOO intensive, we really did not care.

Would go again in a flash.  The included drinks (and boy did the drinks flow - and WITHOUT ANY signature needed), and included tips really make this line compete quite affordabally with other higher end lines.

Easy on and easy off.  Very few lines for anything.  Food was top notch, all the time.

AND..... ATTITUDE (listen up other lines) was positive, happy, upbeat, and NO EXCUSES or B.S. - ever!!!

Happy to answer specific questions.  This was our 15th cruise on 8 lines.

Amazing Azamara by leo178

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Transatlantic

I love the Azamara ships.  Small and intimate suits me fine. Food is very good, could be improved but then costs would go up. It's a balance.  The included spirts/wines/soft drinks are a nice benefit. The staff is great, many remember me from previous cruises.  They are friendly and seem genuinely happy.  This is not the ship for big production shows, but good solid entertainers. I will sail Azamara again.
