Azamara Journey - 10- Day Athens to Venice by elesgee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We really enjoyed the size of the Journey, especially for cruising the Greek Isles and Adriatic, and are probably going to look for similar ships for future cruising. No more large boats for us. However, what really sets Azamara apart in our minds was the staff - from the crew to the wait staff. On this ship, the captain (Johannes Tysse) and the cruise director (Eric De Gray) are in a league of their own and a lot of fun but everyone was super courteous and helpful.

The only thing I would look for next time is for a less port-intensive trip. As nice as the islands were, we both would have enjoyed a day or 2 more at sea just to enjoy the ship's amenities. Also should mention that having access to a laundry room was awesome. It really cut down on the amount of clothing we had to bring.

Truly a wonderful experience by ekaufman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Having taken 4 cruises before, I have to say that Azamara cruise was unquestionably the best cruise I have been on.  The service was impeccable.  Azamara's staff was helpful, but not overly aggressive.  The ship was big enough for everything I needed, but not too big. The shows were very high caliber (better than on any other cruise).  However, what stood out is there culinary abilities.  The food on the ship was on par with many of the 5-star restaurants that I have eaten at.  I will confirm what others said, this is not a cruise for kids.  There is nothing active for them to truly do.  However, for adults, this cruise is incredible.

Excellent experience. by cwood200

Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We thoroughly our cruise. It was our first time on Azamara and we really enjoyed the smaller ship. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The entertainment was different than on the larger ships but we enjoyed it all. The staff really made efforts to make sure you had a great time. We would recommend Azamara to others and will definitely plan another cruise on Azamara.

Azamara is the best! by Cruiser201

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Mexico

The staff is very well trained--anticipated passengers' needs and were "johnny on the spot" w/o being intrusive.  All staff were friendly to all passengers and learned our names and "habits" quickly.  The food was better than other cruise lines I have been on.  The ship was always immaculate.  It appeared the staff took great pride in the ship and were happy to be part of it.  Can't say enough, and I've been sharing my experiences with lots of potential customers.  Thank you!

Eric De "Graytest"!! by Chuck315

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

The Cruise Director, Eric DeGray could not have made this trip more enjoyable. His personality, wit, humor, and singing/performing talent were unbelievable. He, together with the Captain, Johannes Tysse, (his twin brother LOL) made a terrific tandem in keeping us all happy and informed.

Better than expected by lanarodrigues

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

Embarkation was very easy, food was really superb, live entertainment was wonderful, service from staff was absolutely way above expectation, especially Luis and Reynaldo who took care of our Stateroom! Anton the guitarist was a joy to listen to daily. Christmas celebration was really enjoyable and the New Years Eve party around the pool was very memorable!! The ice sculptures were a great touch and the rest of the guests were simply enjoyable to be with. The Amazing evening on shore in Cartagena, Columbia was a bonus touch for everyone!! The New Years Day Captain's brunch was a culinary delight as was the Caribbean Night Pool Party. I just wished we had spent one day less in Aruba and a day more in Columbia. Going through the Panama Canal was an amazing experience and totally glad we experienced it.

Azamara provides the best of everything! by bpbigley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Caribbean

From the largest down to the smallest detail, the Azamara crew takes great pride in assuring that all is attended to in a most professional, caring & friendly manner. Both the Journey & the Quest are being retrofitted this coming January & we can't wait to see what has been done. The specialty restaurants are excellent & their soufflés are to die for! Each day on board there is a featured white or red wine & the selection is very nice. Rather than going on & on, let me simply say we are already booked for 2016 & plan to sail on Azmara annually.

Very Nice But There Were Problems by stugoll

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Caribbean

Old Ship that will be dry-docked next month for major refurbishment that should have taken place years ago. The ingrained dust in the stateroom and other areas of the ship caused allergic reactions for my wife and me, with runny noses and itchy eyes. The mattress was too soft, so my wife had to sleep on the love seat/small sofa bed. The menu in the main dining room was not five star, with little variety and creativity. However, the food on  Deck 9, where the Windows Cafe and the outdoor grill are located, produced much more variety and better food. Unfortunately, there was understaffing in the Windows Cafe on Deck 9, especially for dinners and even some lunches, because some of the staff was being shuttled between this venue and the main dining room.

Wedding Anniversary Trip- amazing by suehaley1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

HappyWonderful experience, this was our first time cruising with Azamara and will consider it for future trips. Many of our fellow travelers had cruised with Azamara many times before.  The ship decor was a bit tired in places but we understand it is going into dry dock next year. Would love to see it when it's done!  The Azamazing evening was outstanding.

Wonderful Crew and Staff by DavidM23

I was disappointed not to receive notificcation of the change in itinerary. Ship needed to be in dry dock several years ago. Just look closely in ninth floor dinning area. Poor condition of chairs, etc.

The ship was beautiful, nicely sized rooms (except for small bathroom), fantastic dining and service. Nice excursions. Entertainment in showroom a bit off, but the disco was pretty good.

A Dream Come True by PatriciaR9

Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Caribbean

To travel on the Azamara Journey is like being in Nirvana. The size of the ship, the decor, the food, the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff, the entertainment - just everything. I am 81 years old and this was my 3rd trip on this ship. I would choose no other. I can't wait for my next trip.

Spoiled Traveler by KellyE

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Azamara Journey / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship was phenomenal! I loved having a smaller ship where I never had to fight for a beach chair (even on the day at sea). Friendly, friendly people everywhere. The specialty restaurants were to die for. I'm pretty difficult to please and I had no complaints when it came to the boat. They were organized and getting on and off the boat was easy. Check-in was amazingly fast - maybe 10 minutes, no lines.

the ship was maintained extremely well and was immaculate everywhere. It was very easy to find areas, easy to get the elevator when needed and the staff was so very friendly and helpful. The decor was very nice and there were fresh flowers in many areas.

This was our first cruise on a small ship but we will definitely do it again . Would recommend it to anyone except families with young children . Azamara clients tend to be middle aged to seniors .
