Review summary

Great ship - been transformed into a floating care home. Needs cabin refurbishments asap.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
Appeared to be chaotic with staff members giving out contradictory directions and getting angry with customers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
This cruise was an ‘adults only’ - but by adults it was in practice over 70s! The food choices were aimed at this demographic - menus were similar to those you’d expect in a care home. Very frustrating to be charged ridiculous amounts for water - it’s about time P&O stopped this and increased the number of free cooled drinking water machines.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Usual selection of entertainment in bars and theatres. No in cabin pay per view facilities- the wifi was so poor it was scandalous. We paid over £400 for ‘essential wi-fi’ which would barely download your daily newspaper and social media. In summary - the ship’s entertainment and facilities are like an early 1990’s time capsule. ☹️

Entertainment

1 out of 5
See on board activities. Ok, but entertainment aimed at very elderly audiences.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Can’t fault the staff - hard working and couldn’t do enough for us.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is beautiful with classically decorated public areas - the cabins are in need of modernisation though. As it’s an ‘adult only’ ship (code for very very elderly people) I guess they don’t get many complaints about lack of wifi etc. The ship was spotlessly clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Lovely traditional ship - all facilities aimed at the elderly guests- cabins, wifi etc badly in need of refurb/modernisation.

Ports of call

Dubrovnik, Croatia

4 out of 5
Only accessible by shuttle bus or taxi. Recommend taxi (approx 20 euros) - the shuttle bus was crowded, stuffy and very hot. Old town is stunning and unmissable.

Southampton (London), England

1 out of 5

Cagliari, Sardinia

1 out of 5
I’m sure there’s a nice part to Cagliari- but we couldn’t find it when walking from cruise port.

Gibraltar (U.K.)

3 out of 5

Trieste, Italy

4 out of 5
Cruise port right in centre of the city - 2 minute walk. Lots of lovely bars and restaurants, well worth visiting.

Cartagena, Spain

3 out of 5
Decent enough Spanish town - main streets a 10 min walk from port.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5

Traveler Photos

Tap too small for sink - discharged water on sink top! 'State of the art' 1990s TV showing loop of poor quality content. Sink insert badly fitting

You summed it up perfectly. We were on it last month and despite bring in our early 50's felt like teenagers 😄

Thank you for this - my mum disembarked recently and had similar thoughts and someone on here got mad about it!
