Review summary

Had a lovely time but disappointed at losing 3 out of our 7 ports. P & O did give us adequate monetary compensation and free alcohol but we will never get this trip of a lifetime back....I can accept these things happen and felt sorry for the Captain who did his very best for us.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The quickest embarkation we have experienced...excellent

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dining rooms were spotless, the waiters attentive....the food could have been hotter on many occasions but the menus were wonderfully varied....

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Our Musical Director Geoffry Fowler was so amusing and educational to our on board choir. I learned so much from him even though I don't sight read music.....such fun.... The quizzes were quite good but I wish the different quizmasters would check other's questions as we got questions repeated on some occasions......

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Arcadias Headliners were absolutely fantastic, wonderful voices, amazing dancers and so much energy.....best ever seen by us on a cruise...

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Such hard workers.......some could have been a little friendlier but I think it was a cultural thing which I am not going to get into....

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Excellent lay out....we've been on her before, but too many buckets catching water or carpets soaked. Toilets blocked in many places which did not happen when we were on her 3 years ago...

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Part obstructed view with a lovely floor to ceiling window. Quite a good size with a small settee. Also pleased we had a bath too. Bed the most comfortable ever. Our Steward Lourdes kept it sparkling clean.....

Ship tip

Take a vacuum flask type cup to take a coffee on deck. Try and remember that if you notice which direction the ship is travelling in you'll get your head round where the Meridian Restaurant and the Palladium Theatres are......

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

4 out of 5
No. Traffic held us up when trying to get to Gate 10....

New York, New York

5 out of 5
Right in the centre in Manhatten. Did our own thing, walked an hour to Museum of Modern Art and saw a fabulous exhibition of Frank Lloyd Wright's architectural drawings, plus Monets, Van Gogh, Picasso etc etc. Then a self organised boat trip up to see the Statue of Liberty up close....

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Apart from the rain a fabulous historical city to visit, did our own thing walking round the Freedom Trail aided by a local Ranger telling us about the North End where Paul Revere lived. We visited his house too and had our lunch in the replica "Cheers" bar.....very good visit

Bar Harbor, Maine Did not visit port

Tail end of the Hurricane prevented tender use at this port.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
Did our own thing visiting the harbour, very pretty, the marine museum but had to stay there an extra 24 hours to get the propeller azipod fixed.

Saguenay

5 out of 5
Local people came out to help on the Hop on Hop Off Buses and give us advice, we did our own thing using the bus to visit the aircraft museum, the fjord museum which has a wonderful "spacecraft" that used virtual reality to "fly" you over the fjord, go back in time, and go underneath the water to see the whales....a great visit

Quebec City, Quebec

5 out of 5
Stunning City, just like visiting Dinan in Brittany, it is all so french although I couldn't understand their french accents, nor they understand mine!.....pity the repair to the azipod prevented our second day in Quebec, so much more to see...we walked up the steep hill to the upper town, visited a park, went for a coffee and visited the Musee du Fort to see a model renactment with video of the battles by the British to get their hands on french Quebec....would love to go back there!

Sydney, Nova Scotia Did not visit port

No time because of the azipod repair...

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Not enough lifts available to get the self disembarking down to the disembarkation deck.....chaos....

It had nothing to do with the ports being destroyed I think the tenders didn't work as the other ships used their tenders okay. Were you actually on this trip!

Sorry your trip of a lifetime and a few ports where not visited on your cruise. You should be glad you are not one of the islanders who not only saw their 'port' destroyed, but their homes and lives too. You are able to happily go home and start planning your next vacation. Sorry.
