Review summary

7 nights to the Norwegian Fjords. Beautiful scenery and so very relaxing

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Chaos! We parked up and waited outside the port as we’d arrived early and didn’t want to be turned away to await our arrival slot. As it was, there was a huge queue in the rain as there had been a problem with the disembarkation of the previous cruise passengers

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All very good. Are each night in the MDR and service was great

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Lots to do and no significant queues that we saw

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We cruised on the Anthem twice in 2021 and the main entertainment was exactly the same on this cruise in May 2022 (Spectres Cabaret, Beatles Celebration, Frankie Valli tribute and We Will Rock You). The only thing we watched for the third time was We Will Rock You (just brilliant!). Other than that it was disappointing to see no real variation in the entertainment.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always helpful and friendly but it seemed as if perhaps the ship was understaffed (in fact we were told that by one crew member).

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout of the Anthem is not the greatest, but the ship was amazingly clean as always

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The room was spacious and clean, but it’s starting to look ready for some changes to be made. Main case in point was the threadbare curtains

Ports of call

Olden, Norway

4 out of 5
Lovely little village. We sat outside at a cafe and enjoyed the most delicious hot chocolate

Geiranger, Norway

4 out of 5
So very beautiful. The voyage along the fjord was breathtaking. The scenery can’t be adequately described.

Bergen, Norway

4 out of 5
Didn’t do an excursion but took a wander into the town. Nice array of shops and some beautiful tulips in full bloom

Stavanger, Norway

5 out of 5
Stavanger is a lovely little town. We’ve been there before on the Explorer OTS, but it was a real treat to be there on Constitution Day, to see the parade

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The stateroom TV’s lagged behind the luggage numbers which had already been called, so there was a massive queue to get off the ship

We are booked for same time in 2023, spending Constitution Day in Geiranger instead. Did you find many shops etc closed for the holiday?

Appreciate your feedback. Great itinerary. Glad you enjoyed your cruise in spite of the embarkation debacle.
