Review summary

We took this cruise knowing the ports of call were not the main attraction. If you are looking for a big ship with loads of activities on it, then the Anthem is a good choice. The Royal Theatre, Music Hall, and Two70 Room offered a variety of entertainment/activities throughout the cruise. The two comedians they had were hilarious. The headliner show "Frankie and the Dreamers" was beyond entertaining. They were so good we stayed to watch the second performance. We Will Rock You was spectacular. It is about two hours, but we did not want it to end. The Windjammer was better than past cruises. The crew really worked hard to keep it clean. They were quick to clear and clean tables. We had no issues finding clean tables. The crew also improved the "washy, washy." All passengers had to wash their hands before entering the Windjammer...no more just using the hand sanitizer. The self serve buffet is back, but it seemed much cleaner than in the past. The Two70 Cafe, Promenade Cafe, and Sorrento's were good places to grab a snack. I don't have as much of an issue with the Main Dining room as others probably because my expectations were not as high. I understand trying to feed a ship with over 5,000 passengers is difficult. In the past, it has been our experience the smaller ships have better food in the main dining room. I would say the food was just O.K. Nothing great but nothing bad either. Our waiter, Anthony, and assistant waiter, Huu, did an an excellent job. They went above and beyond to make sure our experience in the main dining room was excellent. Port Canaveral and Nassau are terrible ports. If you want a cruise with wonderful ports, this cruise is not for you. We did not care about the ports on this cruise. We just wanted to get away since we have not been able to cruise during the pandemic. We got a good deal and live within 2 hours of Bayonne so we jumped on the chance to take this cruise. CocaCay seems to get better and better every time we go. It is so clean and beautiful...a great place to just relax! The buffet on CocoCay was our best lunch of the week by far.

Ship experiences

All eating areas were kept clean by the staff. They did an unbelievable job.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Fitness Center, Solarium...they actually enforced keeping kids out, shows in the theatre were great!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The two comedians were hilarious. We Will Rock You is top notch. Frankie and the Dreamers may have been the best singing group we have ever seen on a ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
UNBELIEVABLE! They worked so hard to ensure passengers were taken care of.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Cleanest ship we have been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
More closet and drawer space than other ships. The two us us had plenty of room for our clothes. Our cabin steward did a great job.

Ship tip

Tons of different venues and things to do on the ship.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

3 out of 5
Fastest boarding process ever! We were on the ship within 5 minutes of arriving at the terminal.

Port Canaveral, Florida

1 out of 5
Nothing to do in Port Canaveral, but we knew that going in. You could spend a fortune to get a shuttle to Disney. In my opinion, it is not worth it. Tickets at Disney are very expensive and you have to leave early to get back to the ship. The better option is to just get a taxi/shuttle to Cocoa Beach.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
This is one of the best ports of call. It is so beautiful and relaxing. The buffet may have been the best lunch of the week.

Nassau, Bahamas

1 out of 5
We have been to Nassau several times, but his was the worst experience. Construction is being done at the port, but that was not the issue. As soon as you walk through the security tent you are SWARMED by locals offering taxi's, shuttle's, scooter rentals, etc. Even after getting through the initial crowd, you are approached almost nonstop by locals to by cigars, go to their shop, etc. We were back on the ship within 30 minutes after disembarking.

Tons of stuff to do in Cocoa Beach, especially near Ron Jon, or Grills restaurant at the port.

Great review ! You touch all the points specially the fact it’s a beautiful ship with and amazing crew ready to go above a beyond for the guest I’m hoping Royal look a all the comments about Port Canaveral why is this a stop ? Nassau could improve if Royal let’s them know they need to control the swarm of ppl we loved all the shows. Heck we are planning to do it again 😎🛳
