Review summary

Friendly professional and courteous staff. Plenty of activities on board for everyone. Average dining experience in the main dining room and wind jammer. Nicely appointed roooms. Beds were extremely hard. Love the fact that there is a glass shower door instead of a plastic curtain in the bathroom. Very few channels to choose from on TV. Not a bad experience, not a great experience, just an average experience. I would still sail this ship again since it homeports at a drive to port for me.

Process was fairly quick, disappointed that the scanning technology did not work properly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The American icon main dining room food was average. The service as well was average. Nothing that I could say was above and beyond. The waiter an assistant waiter with very polite, friendly and courteous. The variety in the Windjammer was very good, but you could see that in certain areas they were being scaled back. Staff was not always readily available at the stations when food ran out

Onboard Activities

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
All of the staff on board work very hard, but just getting the job done. I did not experience any service that was above and beyond. There was no way I would be able to say that any of the staff exceeded my expectations. The low line in the experience was definitely the customer service staff in guest relations.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was kept very clean the entire week at all hours of the day and night. I am not a fan of the layout of the ship as in many of the areas there are bottlenecks that are created purely by design and decreases traffic flow for the passengers.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I was traveling solo, so I have plenty of room. The location of the room was perfect for easy accessibility to the casino and elevators. It was also an easy one flight up to deck for to get morning coffee from La patisserie. My only complaint about the cabin, and it is the same as when I say old the ship two years ago, is the beds are rock hard as it is the water that comes out of the faucet.

Ship tip

Book every show, every activity and every restaurant reservation as early as possible prior to sailing

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
This is normally a port I leave from, so I did not get off the ship. I used the day as a spa day on board

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
I am still in awe at the expansion of the port. There is so much to do, so much to choose from, so many places to eat. I’m looking forward to visiting again

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
This is one of those places, I’ve been there done that, bought the T-shirt. I just got off the ship and walked around, visited some of the shops where I have known some of their employees for years and then return to the ship and spent the rest of the day on board

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarking the ship went fairly well, unfortunately the new facial recognition technology at the port is not 100% yet.
