Was looking forward to being on The Anthem. Had not been on this class before. We enjoyed it!! Highly recommend a New England & Canada cruise. It’s says my rating is 4 star?! Not sure why since I 5 starred everything. There is a glitch in this program. It keeps changing my stars on me?!🤷♀️
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Fast and easy
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Main dining was excellent!! Did not try any other venues. The Wind Jammer was very good compared to other Wind Jammers on other ships. Liked the 270 cafe too, it is just like the Park Cafe on the Oasis class.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Liked the North Star, ifly, escape room (weak), bumper cars (not very long for the wait) but glad we did it. Ifly was the favorite. Travis was excellent with Ifly!!
Diamond Club
5 out of 5
The best Diamond Club we have ever been to. They went over board on the food and service. Chocolate covered strawberries were a must and they had them out in large quantities each nite. I was very impressed.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
I did not talk to one person that thought The Gift was great. Most could not follow the story line. I followed it right off, but could see why it was confusing at first. Talented performers but weird story. Did not understand why someone was allowed to produce such an odd story.
We will rock you show was very very slow to begin with (I feel asleep multiple times, it was so boring) but it picked up halfway through it. Another cutting edge abstract show. I think they tried too hard to make it over the top and it fell off. I felt for the talented performers!
Great comedians and other performers all through the ship and in the theater. Some of the best I have seen and this was my 44th cruise.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff

I am asked by Royal in their survey if the crew showed passion!? I always thought what does that mean?! Well now I know. The crew on the Anthem showed passion and I hear this is a hard ship to work on because of the long long hours. I felt for them, but wow, it made for a great experience for the passengers.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
This ship was pristine!! Clean and sleek!! And well run!
Cabin / Stateroom

Liked the updated room with virtual balcony. Plenty of outlets (about time!!). Lots of storage (did not use all of it), liked the night light in the bathroom AND the light to the bathroom was on the correct side of the door!!! We were on the LOS last month and it was behind the door 🤷♀️!!!
Great room steward.
Ship tip
Biggest tip-go to the Music Hall on deck 4 to reserve all the activities you could not reserve before the cruise. This is very very important. Hardly anyone knew to do that. There was no line to sign up and there were 3 crew there to help you. I had read about this on a roll call and everyone said something different and so the minute I walked on the ship I asked a crew member where to go and she sent me straight to The Music Hall.
I am rating this a 5 star because I take full responsibility for selecting a less than great tour. We did an 8 hour Fall foliage tour with a Grayline operator and it was lacking. Old bus and the guide was negative. He would point out a place as we drove by and kept saying that we couldn’t stop there because 1. Someone complained 2. The business accused them of trespassing 3. They now charge $100 per bus (the nerve of another business thinking they should be compensated for letting another company stop and let their customers view and walk around their venue for free!!!)4. And this was the final straw!! As we pulled into a parking lot of a rundown shopping center to look at some trees on the edge of the parking lot(🤣), the guide wanted us to notice the Subway shop and told us he and others from the company were kicked out several years earlier when they were training for the tour. And that was all he was going to say about it. 😳 what in the world!! Who gets kicked out of a Subway!! It really became comical. And for lunch he told us that the restaurant was not aware that we were coming so we had to wait 30 minutes before arriving there. What company does not confirm and double check things like this?! I will say the food and staff at the restaurant were really good, which was such a relief because we were starting to think we were on the tour for “suckers” after everything else. I should have suspected this when I called 6 days before the cruise to nail down were to meet the tour since the information provided was vague. Jeremy who answered the phone said, “We were just discussing this tour. We noticed there are 13 of you from the ship on this cruise and we are not sure you will make it back to the ship before it sails”. (Say what!!!). He put me on hold for awhile and then came back and said they would make it work and drop us off by the port (which they did, thank goodness!). He said they were going to call everyone and let them know, but not one person from the ship had received a call when I asked them.
So think twice about using Brush Hill Tours - Grayline Boston. Last thing-if you do take this tour take a cab to their office instead of walking to a hotel “near” the port to catch a bus that picks up people at hotels for their tours. They said it was a 10-15 minute walk and 1/4 of a mile. It was over a mile and took 30 minutes!! Positive note: Wilber the bus driver was very good and I appreciated having him. Herm was our tour guide and he needs to find another job. And Brush Hill tours needs to learn to dot their “I”s and cross their “t”s before sending a tour group our for a tour.
Loved it! Went to Kennebunkport. Tour guide was awesome. It was a Royal Caribbean tour and they were much better than the Boston company. It was our favorite stop. The guide was from Kennebunkport and she knew a lot and was easy to listen to.
We walked around down town because it was right by the port. Several people had said to eat at 59 Cottage restaurant and so we went there. You can walk from the port (we used GPS and got turned around a tad) and it was delicious. We were told to get their lobster roll and clam chowder. The BEST!!! I had a lobster roll at all of our stops (except Boston) and this one won hands down. I even went to the Down East Deli in Bar Harbor which was highly recommended (and it was good and real close to the port) but 59 Cottage was the best.
Liked our tour of Halifax and Peggy’s Cove. Our tour guide (another Grayline operative) and she talked the entire time effortlessly! We were so impressed and she knew a lot. She said we would not have time to eat at “The Sou’Westerner” but I had time to order a lobster roll to go, and it was good. I could tell others wished they had done that, but by then it was too late since we waited to order after we walked around. But they said they could have my roll out in 5 minutes and they did. It was worth trying. I wish I had ordered their clam chowder too.
We took another Grayline operative and it was very good again. Such a relief after Boston! Had an elderly gentleman and he made sure we got to The Bay of Fundy and the caves fast and we did not have a crowd and were able to order lobster rolls and clam chowder at The Caves restaurant. Very good!!! By the time we left the Bay of Fundy there were 12 buses!!! He knew quite a bit and has written 18 books but I forgot to get his name to check them out. Took a tour of St. John also. We enjoyed it.
