Given that the cruise was an opportunity for my husband and I to spend some time together and relax, the cruise delivered. We were able to set our schedules to do as much or as little as we liked, with many options for food and/or entertainment available for whenever they were needed. The staff and fellow passengers were gracious and accommodating - allowing us first access to elevators, frequently refilling coffee and drinks at our table so that we didn't have to go to the many beverage stations, helping with luggage when embarking and disembarking. This was my husband's first cruise and he enjoyed it and is open to going on another one.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Although seemingly chaotic, there was plenty of staff to take bags, make sure they were tagged and direct you to the passenger entrance. My husband uses a transport chair and we were directed to a separate waiting area where RC reps handled our boarding process without us having to go to the stations set up for that purpose.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Mostly did buffets for breakfast and lunch. Had dinner three nights in the main dining room. Did not attend any specialty restaurants. Staff in the main dining room were attentive and service was good.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
As this vacation was for rest and relaxation, did not participate in any of the activities. I did take a walk around ship and watched as others participated.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Did attend the We Will Rock You show which was excellent. As someone in the industry, I marveled at the technology available in the theater - top notch. Attended three trivia contests, a nice break.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
My husband has mobility issues and we mostly traveled throughout the ship with his transport chair. Everyone was attentive, accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed...and then some.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Both my husband and I commented on how difficult it must be to keep the ship as clean as it was, given the number of passengers and the amount of food/snacks/drinks that get consumed. While lunching at a snack bar, we noticed that there was a member of staff bussing tables at least every 2 - 3 minutes.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Cabin was clean and comfortable. Ricardo, our cabin attendant, tended to our room promptly and provided turn down service in the evening while we were at dinner. Enjoyed being able to sit on the balcony during the day and having the balcony door open in the evening to hear the sea. Cabin was a nice size for two.
Ship tip
If you are dealing with mobility issues, ask for your cabin to be on the same side of the ship as the dining rooms/food areas. Fortunately we had a transport chair so I was able to wheel my husband from one end to the other; he would never have been able to walk it.
Directions to Cape Liberty not very well sign posted and nowhere to ask for help as it's in an industrial area that was empty on Saturday. On arrival, RC facility well managed and staff were helpful.
Weather did not support much time at King's Wharf and time in port was cut from 2 days to 1. Took the bus into Hamilton which was a nice, inexpensive way to see the area and real people. Once in Hamilton, anything off of the main street is uphill and was difficult for us to access. Had reservations for lunch at a restaurant - which was uphill and up two flights of steps. Had to cancel reservation. Took the ferry back to King's Wharf and spent the afternoon on the ship.
Ran into a problem as our bag was missing. RC attendant searched the floor and eventually directed us to where to file a missing bag report. Report was taken and we left the building. I then walked around outside the building where many people were waiting for their rides. Fortunately I saw a group with my bag. They had a porter bring out their bags and didn't notice mine among them.
