Review summary

This was 9 days of relaxation! RC seemed to have plenty to do for everyone and the ship is one of their most beautiful. I met a couple of people who were doing this cruise for the second time!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Beyond outstanding! Since I did the check-in online, including the photo for the sea pass card, all we had to do was walk through the line, get paperwork scanned, and go to lunch! Cards were waiting at the cabin. This was the easiest and quickest embarkation ever!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Most meals in the MD were good. Only a couple of selections I didn't care for but overall very good. Chops Grille I was a bit disappointed due to lack of quality. I've been on two other RC ships and Chops was excellent. This one is subpar compared to the others: mac n cheese was of the box variety; "sharable" sides were really enough for one person; the filet and shrimp were good as well as the caeser salad; service was very good. But it still doesn't compare to the Allure and Oasis' Chops. For $50pp, they need to do better. Windjammer buffet had a good selection for breakfast and lunch. We did not try dinner. Breakfast had several omelette stations and a pasta station at lunch. My only complaint would be that staff needs to move a bit quicker to clean tables for diners. Sorrento's had really good pizza and Two70 had delicious sandwiches and soups!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The fitness center was well-equipped. iFly and bumper cars were really fun! The casino has a good selection of slots also.

Entertainment

We didn't go to any shows on this trip. Just relaxed in the evenings.

Children's Programs

No kids with us!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
MD waiter, Fellington and Idakek, were outstanding! Other hotel staff were very helpful and friendly overall. Our room steward was less than desirable. The bathroom flooded for two days and it was mentioned to him for two days. He said he'd take care of it. I ended up having to call maintenance after the third flood! They came right away and fixed the issue. Also, requested items took a couple of days to arrive. It was better for me to call the departments who then called the RS to get things done by him.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Beautiful ship! Just beautiful! I think it was well-designed. Our cabin, 8686, was comfortably decorated and included a 42" flat screen. As far as cleanliness, overall clean but buffet staff need to do better with cleaning tables, under tables, and especially the window sills where crumbs have fallen.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony. The size was comfortable. I did notice there was no coffee table though. It was very nicely decorated! RS straightened things neatly but didn't vacuum for the first 7 days.

Ship tip

I always recommend getting a balcony!

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

This was just for embarkation. RC did an outstanding job with this!

Boston, Massachusetts

We just walked around ourselves, no excursion. I recommend Legal Harborside for lobster rolls!

Portland, Maine

Very good. We took the tour to Kennebunkport. Very nice and quaint.

Bar Harbor, Maine

Beautiful village. We tendered here but it was fine. Very picturesque and quaint. Shops reasonably priced.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Peggy's Cove is a must see. And the drive there is scenic. Shops at PC are outrageously overpriced though.

Saint John, New Brunswick

We went to Bay of Fundy Express. Boring tour! Nothing scenic between the ship and the Bay / St Martin.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were off the ship in about 10 minutes. This included getting luggage. We were in one of the later groups since our flight was in the afternoon. Very easy process to go through customs - they use face recognition so you don't have to pull out passports.

We’re sailing in Anthem in February and staying in connected cabins 8686 and 8688. Do you have any pictures of your cabin? Thank you in advance!
