Review summary

We loved this so much we booked again for next year while we were on this cruise. Each port was awesome, clean, and we found the people very friendly and helpful. We we lucky enough to be in NYC the day before our cruise, which was 9/11, so we got to see the services at Ground Zero in the morning from across the street due to security. Touching!

Lightening quick!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Windjammer was exceptional and ate there most (6) nights. We are usually Main Dining Room guests but actually preferred the WJ.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Flying, bumper cars, North Star. All excellent! I also taught a belly dance class two days in the Music Hall. We loved the Hush Party with the DJ. This was a silent disco where everyone is dancing with headphones on. We must have been a sight to see to observers!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Dancers, singers, and orchestra were top notch!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone spoke to us and our cabin steward called us by name from day one.

Ship Quality

Loved the layout. We have been on the Oasis class down to the Majesty. This class was super. We felt very comfortable with the cleanliness.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We usually book a balcony and it was lovely, but was a bit chilly outside for us, so we hardly used it. We did book this itinerary again and went with an outside cabin. We were on Deck 10.

Ship tip

You might consider scheduling the North Star on a port day so you can see the town.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey Did not visit port

We only stayed here the two nights before (Newark). Found it dirty and I did not feel very safe.

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
Boston Harbor Tour through Shore Excursions (outside company), then walked around. Try to visit Mike's Pastries in the Italian section of town. Nineteen varieties of cannoli! People were lined up out the door in the rain. Worth it!

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5
Loved the port. Right off the ship. There were about 100 craft vendors set up along the street and we bought several handmade items. We are crafters ourselves so we really enjoyed this.

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5
Oh my, wonderful! We did the Bar Harbour Schooner Tour on the Margaret Todd. We then walked around the town and shopped. This is when we decided we needed to come back, so we booked for next year. Walked in and around Bar Harbor Inn. You do have to tender in here.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
Did a general bus tour of Halifax and Peggy's Cove. Intriguing stories about Halifax and its connection to the Titanic.

Saint John, New Brunswick

5 out of 5
Walked around. The town is right there off of the ship. Nice art galleries.

Disembarkation

Thank you for the tip about the North Star. We are going on this ship in Feb but I am not sure that I want to see Nassau (I've been there before) so I may have to do the north star while we are there instead. 😁

So glad you enjoyed Bar Harbor! One of the many gems in this wonderful state I get to call home. If you return be sure to hit up the thirsty whale! Best fried clams ever, awesome atmosphere with a local flare
