Review summary

It was a great trip. The six of us wondered if 12 days was going to be too much time together and too long on a ship. What we learned is that 12 days was not enough. We all had a great time where we could separate from real life and relax and enjoy each other. Thank you to all the staff and crew for a wonderful vacation.

Everything ran smoothly. The staff kept the crowds moving and always done with a smile.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Every restaurant experience was excellent. We ate at Chop's, Jamie's, Izumi, and our regular dining room was Silk for our dinners. Windjammer was amazing with the amount of food and smooth execution of everything. Another food place was Sorrento's . It was awesome to stop by anytime and get some pizza. The food and service were exceptional in all the restaurants. Wait staff all work incredibly hard, with professionalism, respect and smiles. I'm sure they are exhausted especially as the trip progresses, but their energy and service never changes.

Onboard Activities

pools, game room, walking outside on the top deck. If one couldn't find something to do, it was totally on that person.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The variety of shows was excellent and every show was enjoyable. I don't think many of the elderly age group understood the show We Will Rock You. We thought it was great!

Children's Programs

We had no children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff and personnel were excellent. They were always pleasant, friendly, and helpful. I would especially like to mention Aubrey and Nirman, our waiters in the Silk room who tended to us at table 614. They were exceptional in service, friendliness, and professionalism all while being fun. We really liked how they served us and treated us. I would ask for them anytime to wait my table!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I could not find an unclean place even if I was searching for one. The bar for cleanliness seems to be set very high. Having the wash stations before eating in the windjammer and the purell stations placed in so many areas is greatly appreciated. The layout was overall good. I have two things to mention though. The main walkway down the middle of the ship is awkward to manuever in because of the wares being sold on all the tables. With all that going on, it just bottlenecks and it's hard to move. The second thing, is the Royal Theater. I think seating is difficult. Not all seating has open ends in the rows. It feels cramped being "stuck" in the inside seats. It is also difficult to get to seats you think are open. You walk down an aisle to go into a row where there are seats, but then that row end is not open and you have to go all the way around, only to then find, someone else is now in those seats. It was frustrating at times. The other thing is the obstruction of view because of the columns. Because of the minimal layout issues for me, I need to go with a 4 star here.

Cabin / Stateroom

Storage was amazing! We were shocked we could put everything, including our large suitcases, in a place out of the way. The room was set up nicely. The bed was ultra comfortable. It was great to sit out on the balcony.

Ship tip

I felt very trusting in the Captain and crew in keeping us safe. I know unforeseen things could always happen, but the weather was a little unsettled and the captain rerouted in order to keep us safe. Also I felt informed about situations that could affect the passengers.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey Did not visit port

We live in New Jersey. It was the port we embarked on the ship.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

I was amazed how the Puerto Ricans pulled the tourist areas together. I was so happy to see they were once again functioning at least partially. We did go on an excursion, San Juan Cultural Experience, and it was wonderful. We toured the island, ate native food and learned a lot about the island through our guide. I'm sorry to say, I can't remember his name, because he was excellent and extremely thorough.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Our excursion was A St. Maarten Beach Rendezvous. The beach was beautiful. What was included in the tour was excellent, but our tour guide, I think her name was Milly, was not very informative. She did not even take a head count and when we were the last ones to get back to the bus, but by the time indicated, she asked if we were on her bus in a puzzled manner. That made me nervous that she did not know how many people were on her bus. We did not know her, because she did not stand up to look at us at all. She filled in her tour information by talking about her kids. Fantastic excursion; just needed a different tour guide.

St. John's, Antigua

Our excursion was the Catamaran Cruise with Lobster Lunch. It was on the vessel One Love. That excursion was the BEST one we went on. It was 6 hours, we stopped at two different beaches, the crew were very entertaining, and the lunch was delicious. We, along with our friends, had a blast and completely enjoyed this excursion. I would give it a ten star if I could!

Castries, St. Lucia

When I looked out the window in the morning, I could not believe the beauty I was seeing. We did not go on an excursion at this port. We just stayed back to shop and relax in the port.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
Our excursion was Coast to Coast Scenic Drive. The scenery was beautiful. Our guide was excellent. We had a great time and experienced eating sugar cane from a local. Again, a beautiful place.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Our excursion was Caribbean Scenic Railway Tour. It was fun going around the island on this unique train. It was very informative. Our guide did a great job. We had some live music and drinks aboard this trip. Another wonderful day!

Disembarkation

Done very orderly and smoothly. (Of course we knew we were back in Bayonne with the New York tone from others. )
