Review summary

Overall, we loved it! We booked last minute and have cruised before & loved everything! We were surprised at the number of elderly (80+) on this cruise as our last Royal Caribbean cruise was very balanced across age groups. We certainly don’t mind but did feel a little out of place at times as diverse age groups allow us to connect with others with similar interests over the 11 days. We realized this cruise that the time of year/month does factor into that. We love cruising in December and will book later in the month, over New Years (when working folks tend to vacation) next time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The all inclusive restaurants are good and service is excellent but If you’re a foodie, check out the add-on dinner package before your trip. We tried the Japanese called Izumi and WOWZERS! We were seriously impressed with the uniqueness & bursts of flavors (& large servings) of their sushi.

Service and Staff

Best service team I’ve ever seen.

Ship Quality

Admittedly, I teeter on being a bit compulsive when it comes to cleanliness but the cruise staff were on top of it! I always bring a small travel pack of Clorox wipes whenever I travel to wipe down the phone, remotes, & door handles in the rooms but this was the first time they were totally white/dirt free when I was done.

Cabin / Stateroom

This cabin has an obstructed view & I had no clue that I booked that option. If you really enjoy the balcony & views as part of your experience, you may want to look at another deck level. I would’ve paid more to not have that but this site, , didn’t give me that option. Won’t book through this again for that reason.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Arrive early as traffic can get backed up getting to the ship to load.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We arrived at 3 and all the shops & restaurants closed early. I’m not sure if this is a weekday schedule or not. We also went to the Bacardi factory excursion that was way overpriced especially compared to Distillery & Winery tours in the States & what you get to see in those. It’s clear that this port needs the cruise & tourism revenue but closing early left us no option but to return to the ship.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

This island is still trying to recover from the Maria hurricane (2017). Its worth using a coordinated excursion via the ship because despite being there before, we (& others) were lied to about taxis and bus services and where they’re going. We wanted to go to the beach and ended up on an island tour. Multiple people said this type of thing happened to them, as well. If you’re jewelry shopping, then this may be a great port to do that as there’s not much beyond that.

St. John's, Antigua

Beaches were incredible and water is crystal clear. The snorkeling and swimming with the stingrays excursion was awesome.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Grabbed a cab and went to a private beach that was incredible. I could vacation at this island alone!

Lol... I guess this just shows how different we all are. I think I relate and interact with the older crowds better than the younger crowds. Maybe it’s because I’m old.. lol. Jk... only 50 and fabulous!! 😝😂😝
