Review summary

Overall, we had a great cruise. Probably would go on another Royal Caribbean cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a breeze with all 24 family members and I appreciated that the most. Everyone used the on-line check in process prior to boarding so it made embarkation smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good and every night they had a different theme. I didn't like the fact that there was not a restaurant that was open 24 hours. Sorrento's, the pizza store, was the closest thing and it was always so packed at night because that was the only food spot open. I did not get the drink package because I thought it was way too expensive especially when I'm not a heavy drinker. Maybe you should make packages with drink specials like 10 drinks or 15 drinks do the entire cruise and charge a certain price. I had lemonade the whole time.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I tried ifly, North Star, I stayed by the poolside and all my family members did the bumper cars. My kids did the rock climbing wall and flow rider everything was great. We all had so much fun. I think you should add a sail away party and let guests know when they are going under the bridge. Norwegian has a sail away party where they play music, cook food and announce that they are going under the bridge and I really like that.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The cruise director was great, he kept all the parties going, the belly flop contest, music by the pool side was great but very limited. I think the music was limited, I would have loved to hear the band play a little longer.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My son was in the young teens and my daughter was in the older teen group. They absolutely loved this cruise. They met a lot of friends and I barely seen them only at breakfast and while they were sleep. LOL.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff on this cruise line was not as friendly as the staff on Norwegian. Some of the staff were very friendly but most of the staff were not friendly at all. Diastine in the Windjammer was so cordial, she remember our name on the first day and always helped us even if we were not sitting in her section. The guy who would greet us in the morning for breakfast (washy washy) was great, he was kind and friendly and always talked with everyone and our waiters in the American Icon were truly wonderful. We were with a party of 24 and they were always running back and forth to help us. They were funny and always kept up laughing and entertained. We loved Jan Michael, Raynold and Danilo. Sometime I would just say hello to staff in the hallways and they would just give me a "brush off" type of hi- like I'm busy.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I seen staff members cleaning this ship with soap and water in buckets at 2 and 3 a.m. and painting the ship when we were in port. I always saw staff cleaning this ship and you could not go into the Windjammer without washing your hands. Thank you!

Cabin / Stateroom

Keefer kept our room clean and he was helpful. The room size was as expected, nothing special.

Ship tip

See the Spectra show in Two70 and go to the Silent party.

We didn't do much here. A few of the family members just walked around and shopped. This place was clean,

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We took a taxi downtown and went to the beach (beautiful and clean) and we got some wings at Hard Rock Cafe on the beach.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We went to the Fort at Old San Juan and it was amazing. My children loved the history and we took a lot of great pictures. We shopped and took pictures with the parrots.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Loved this Island but I didn't like the fact that I paid for my children to go to the Aqua Park and there were jelly fish in the water. Three children had gotten bit so of course my children didn't want to go in the water so they just went on the water slide. There are a lot of things to do here as well. Zip lining, chess, relaxing in hammocks, eating, swimming. It was a great port.
