Embarkation

It was actually fine. Smooth no issues.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The buffet was horrible. It seems as if they served left overs every day. We have been on both Carnival and Norwegian lines and have never felt that way. I can’t tell you how many times pork goulash, tilapia, mash and gravy and some variation of pork chop and steamed rice were out. I have heard people long in the past rave about RC’s top of the line food. This was NOT top of the line. The other huge huge disappointment was the fact that we had to pay for Johnny rockets (which we preferred to eat since the food was so horrible, except for the last night when it was decent ). Again, Carnival has GUY FIERI BURGERS AND FRIES and it’s FREE! Carnivals popcorn for movie night was free as well where RC was asking for $4 or $5 dollars. Absurd. They spent so much money on building a luxurious ship that the guest pay the price. It actually deserved a one star but I gave it a two star for the one sweet chef Sean Santos.
Onboard Activities

You mean the ones you had to go search downstairs for. They barely had anything great. And I was applaud that bingo stared at $40 again on other ships they aren’t trying to cut your throat. The pool areas were small and cramped nothing special ever really happening. You would think you at goig to the islands it would be festive. Because we have other ships and lines to compare too we know everything that was terrible Wrong with this cruise!
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Just boring. Not sure who you are trying to cater too but RC really has some improving to do.
Children's Programs
4 out of 5
It must have been fine my son liked it and daughter said it was ok.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
They were ok. Our attendant was nice but that’s about it. Not as personable as other line staff have been.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Seems as if all their money went into that.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It would have gotten a five has the bed not been so horrible.
Ship tip
Don’t bother there are better ships and lines out there. I plan on emailing coorporate this was such a disappointment.
What is the point of this port besides the fact that it seems like a waste of time. Doesn’t it make sense to spend two days at a real island you can explore? Or are ship lines just tryig to avoid the port fees??
Make sure to check the schedule for the SeaPlex on day 1. If they do have bumper cars the first day, there will not be a long line like most days. The SeaZplex also features skating, basketball, soccer and volleyball! There is ping pong and an XBox room upstairs (few of the XBoxs were working- a problem.
Our cruise last year was on the grandeur. Have not been on the anthem yet but we can’t wait. They have bumper cars. Bumper cars on the ship. What a great way to take stress out while away at sea on the ship with bumper cars.
We were on the same cruise at the same time. Everything met our expectations.
Can’t belive you were on the same ship!? We are already planning on going back same time next year.
Go ahead and cruise Carnival next time.

Well, everyone has a bar they set for quality in cruise vacations. It’s all subjective. For me Norwegian set the bar the highest of the three cruise lines discussed so far. RC came close. Carnival, not a fan. I’d go on NCL more, but I hate hate hate going into NYC. Hey, that’s my opinion. One thing I could never complain about on any of the ships is the quality of food, food choices or even ship entertainment. The windjammer buffet definitely does get crowded on all of the RC ships I’ve been on, so the food must not be too bad for most. The main dining room is also good and don’t be shy to ask for more food since they serve smaller portions in an artistic way. They will serve you another plate if you ask. Don’t forget about the top notch speciality dining rooms I’d want to try something different. Now, I haven’t been on anthem yet, I like what I see hear overall and I will be on very very soon. Looking forward to it and bringing my wife and 2 yo son aboard for his second cruise where he can finally play in the water. He’s excited too. 😊😊😊😊
Sounds like you should stick to the party and more kid friendly cruise lines like Carnival and NCL. Especially since you said they were much better anyway.
We loved the food on the Anthem- best entertainment, friendly staff, lots to do for our grandchildren and adult children in the SeaPlex. Are you sure you took the right ship?
Sorry if you had a bad cruise but you obviously didn't read all the shipboard activities there are and it sounds like you boarded with a bad attitude. Most people love that ship and it has so many things to do. Too bad you couldn't see beyond your attitude.
Also, when people complain about the food, it is always the buffet. IT IS A BUFFET!! BUFFET FOOD IS ALWAYS MEDIOCRE!! Did you even bother to try the MDR the whole cruise??
