Review summary

The room was very good.

The food was terrible and in the extra pay restaurants was just as bad.   Everything tasted over salty.  I don't like such a huge ship.  It's too impersonal and impossible to meet people.

Getting luggage on and off was well organized

The taxi's which I had to take home were disgusting..and way overpriced.  I had to pay $102 for a trip that cost me $25. getting to the ship.

There was a lot to do for children, but not for older adults.  I was hoping to meet someone to play canasta with, but "not".

I did not like the cruise and only went because I was with a group of family members.  I would never recommend this ship...way to big.

I thought the room was excellent..best thing about the ship. I am a single person and very neat, so little needed to be done by staff, however I purposely left a couple of crumbs on the nighttable and they were never removed.

Ship tip

Don't go to the extra pay restaurants. They are overpriced, oversalted and not better than the other restaurants.

lol. people spend thousands on a cruise and won't spend 30 minutes doing any research. but I bet when they are looking for a new 100.00 toaster oven will look at 25 reviews on Amazon.

We chose this ship because of my research- I knew Anthem would satisfy the needs of the entire family ages 12 to 70. Yes it has more amenities for the young- SeaPkex, ifly, Florider. But there are shows, napkin folding, trivia ( but no sports trivia!). It does appeal to a younger crowd. Know your ship before you book. Did you enjoy timecwith your family? I'm 70 and loved watching my grandchildren enjoy this ship- the bumper cars, playing basketball, adult games. Seeing the ship through their eyes gave me the most pleasure!

You'll find Granduer of the Seas a better fit for you. It is a perfect size and a great staff. The port is right off 95 and close to the airport (BWI) and Amtrak station.

it's not Royal Caribbean fault you wasn't happy. Next time do your research about the ship and what they offer.

Big ships are not for everybody. I found the food in the regular dinning rooms very good. Did you ask for low salt diet as you seem salt intolerant? the dinning staff are their to make you happy and to have you enjoy your dinner. but if you never asked or brought it to their attention , who's at fault? I always find the old adage " the squeaky wheel gets the grease " works most of the time. as long as you do it politely and to the right person in charge of the situation. as for the taxi, I think it's out of the hand of RCCL. Call the local taxi commission or next time take Uber or lyft. also next cruise try and find a website or even using this app. To find other passengers going on same trip and post your interest in playing cards. I'm sure you will find more than a few to meet up with and have fun. as anything in life if you think ahead and do your due diligence your rewards will be found. I'm not a kid anymore, but found so much to due on Anthem, that could not fit everything in a 7 day cruise. but I did my research BEFORE getting on the Anthem.
