Review summary

This was a wonderful cruise and I would do it again! Allure of the Seas is a great ship with a fantastic crew. So many things to do on the ship and at the ports. Even though disembarkation was not good, I know this is not the normal. I'm sure there were things going on that we didn't know about:)

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We were on the ship very quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We didn't have one bad meal in the main dining room. Everything was excellent. Windjammer was just "okay". Solarium was excellent for breakfast. We also enjoyed Johnny Rockets and Park Cafe.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The kids splash area was cl9sed the first 2 days of the cruise which made it hard for our youngest grandson since he was the only one that couldn't enjoy the pool area, and on the last day, a child had an accident in the pool which caused the pool and splash areas to be closed again. Our family enjoyed the Rock walls, zipline, putt-putt golf, flow rider, and pickle ball. The grandchildren loved the carousel and the "play house" on the boardwalk. Some of the adults did fitness classes and used the fitness center.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to every show we could go to! Our favorites were Mama Mia, Blades, Aqua show, Love and Marriage, comedy show, and music in Central Park. Only 4 of our group went to Blue Planet and they said it was not a favorite.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
The 2 youngest grandchildren did not like AO at all. I wish they would divide up the youngest group into 2 groups- 6-18 months and 19-35 months. The room is set up for babies and not for 2.5 year old children at all. Our youngest grandson went once, and when his parents picked him up, he was sitting in a corner by himself while the staff attended to the babies. He didn't go back. Three of the grandchildren in the 6-8 age group liked it. The puppet show was excellent. The parade was excellent and fun for the whole family.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had a group of 14 and our waiters (Arnold and Arnold) were fantastic! I can't say enough good things about them. All of our cabins had good room stewards.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I love the oasis class design ships. Love the neighborhoods. Everything was well maintained and clean. There is definitely some wear showing in the cabins as far as couches and curtains go, but nothing too bad.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was a standard balcony. It was our first time having a Boardwalk balcony. We did have a nice view of the water and the aqua theater, but it was pretty noisy. Early mornings were quieter than other times of day. However, if the door is closed, you don't hear the noise.

Ship tip

Study the ship before sailing. It will help the first couple of days go smoother.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
We stayed in Houston before the cruise, so we didn't experience Galveston at all.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
We did the monkey/ sloths and iguana farm with Victor Bodden Tours. At the end of the tour we went to Henry Morgan resort. We loved the animal part, but the beach was not a good fit for our family.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
Four of our group did the dolphin encounter and really enjoyed it. Another 4 of our group did the aviary and enjoyed it as well.

Cozumel, Mexico

Thirteen of us went to Nachi Cocum and absolutely loved it. One did the Royal excursion to the ruins and liked it as well.

Disembarkation

Not real sure what was going on, but we were in line to disembark for nearly 2 hours. It was awful. The worst disembarkation we have ever experienced.
