Review summary

This is a large ship with so much to offer. The ports are fun with ample excursions to choose from. The staff is really the star of this trip for me! They went above and beyond to provide us amazing service. I would definitely recommend this cruise for both couples and families. There is no shortage of entertainment and amenities on board. There is a lot of variety of food options and the quality is very good! We would definitely cruise on the Allure again!

Embarkation

Our personal experience was seamless. We parked at the North lot of the port and were inside and waiting to board within 30 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate mostly in the MDR and we had a wonderful experience each time. We were impressed with the variety and high quality of the food. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We ate at Park 150 one night and it was fabulous. The atmosphere, ambiance and wait staff were impeccable. The food was delicious!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did a variety of activities that were offered: main pool, fitness center, mini golf, and the carousel. We had a great time enjoying these amenities/activities. We never had an issue getting a chair on the deck of the pool area (regardless of time of day). At certain time of the day the gym was pretty busy but I was still able to get in whatever type of workout I was doing that day without issue. I really enjoyed the track on deck 5 - it offers great views when in port.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We thought the entertainment was fantastic! Mamma Mia was amazing! It was just like seeing it at any reputable theater venue! The cast and their voices were amazing! Oceanaria, the aqua show was so much fun to watch! The divers and acrobats were awesome! It was fun to watch in such a great outdoor venue! We went to one night of the headliner comedians and they were great! We had a blast listening to Chris at the Bow & Stern pub. He was so welcoming and it was a great interactive show! Lastly, we were able to see Blue Planet! We really enjoyed it! The dancers and acrobats were amazing. The actors voices were awesome! It was a really cool visual show. I would recommend making reservations for all headlining shows just to ensure you can see it at the time that works for you. Blue Planet did not take reservations but we arrived about 20 minutes early and had no issues getting a seat.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We received the absolute BEST service on this cruise! There were multiple times the staff went above and beyond. I was traveling with my 75 year young mom and it was very heartwarming to see the crew and staff give her such exceptional service and help throughout the cruise. I can't say enough wonderful things about the staff that were on our ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship has a great set up. We love the promenade so much because there is so much to see and do and its an easy pathway to get from each side of the ship. The ship was very clean - each day we saw the staff either vacuuming or dusting/wiping down the railing and stairways. Our room was immaculate and very well kept by the room attendant.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed our cabin. It was clean and provided just enough space for the 2 of us. It was a great location, just steps away from the stairs and fitness center. It was very quiet and comfortable.

Ship tip

Eat breakfast in the MDR - they have a great selection for breakfast and you get great service in a more quiet atmosphere. And, the Champagne Bar is the best for adults and top shelf drinks. The staff is amazing!!!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas Did not visit port

We drove to Galveston the day we left so we did not explore the area.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We did the catamaran and snorkel excursion and it was wonderful! The ride out to the reef was nice and relaxing. The variety of fish we saw was really good (and I've snorkeled alot!). The water was nice and calm and one of the crew led us around the reef and pointed out different fish and animals.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
This was our fist time in Costa Maya and we had a really fun day! We took a taxi to Mahahual and picked a beach spot with chairs and unlimited drinks. We enjoyed massages on the beach which we negotiated for $30 for 1 hour! The water was clear and warm! It was a lovely spot. There were vendors that approach you but if you say a simple "no thank you" they move on.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We just explored the port in Cozumel instead of doing an excursion. We walked around and got some drinks and food at Senior Frogs. Its a very nice and lively port.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
There were some delays with disembarkation that were out of the ship's control which delayed us by maybe 1 hour. However, they provide many opportunities for guests to get coffee, refreshments and breakfast. We waiting in the Amber Theater for our departure and it was very comfortable,. Once we were checked off the boat, getting our luggage and getting to our car was a breeze.
