Review summary

This was our first cruise after Covid. Prior to this cruise RCCL was our favorite cruise line and we never had to stand in so many lines. Not sure we will cruise RCCL again.

Embarkation

It was chaos. They did not stick to the requested times. They had everyone stand in one line to enter the terminal. We were probably in the line for over an hour.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The main dining room was very good with excellent wait staff. The buffet experience was a nightmare. Too many people and not enough space to move around the stations. We only ate there for two meals.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Excellent entertainment. Casino was very smoky. Solarium was nice. More kids on the cruise than expected.

The excursion we took would have been better if we were not bothered by continuous stream of people selling goods.

Disembarkation

Horrid. Too many self assist people trying to get off the ship. We checked our luggage so had to wait to get into a long line of passengers with their bags. We were to disembark at 8:45 and did not get called until 9:45. Then we were in another long line to get off the ship.

Remember Galveston is a big drivers port, ALOT of self disembark. We have sailed Allure 3 times since she arrived in Galveston. We have ALWAYS been in our car and headed north by 745 at the latest. Embarkation at the new terminal is still a work in progress, but I can tell you it has gotten better each time we have gone.

Appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately cruising isn’t back to pre-Covid levels yet (might not ever be). Sorry you were disappointed.

The ship has a carousel and so many other things geared towards kids and families. I'm not sure how there could be "more kids than expected." In April, we loved the ease of embarkation and disembarkation even with 2 damaged gangways after a storm.

Your sailing date says May 7, 2023. You should still be on the ship 🤷

Cruising post-Covid is very different

Embarkation and Disembarkation is the responsibility of the City of Galveston. Contact the Mayor as RCCL has no control. It is up to the Port Authorities.
