Review summary

The Southern Caribbean Itinerary is absolutely beautiful. Curacao was our favorite port and the Allure of the Seas was a wonderful ship with top rate entertainment! This was my favorite itinerary 2nd only to Hawaii!

Embarkation

We arrived at 10:30 for our 11 am boarding time. We were inside waiting inside the port waiting area in less than 10 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had dinner in the main dining room on 4 nights of the 8 day cruise. Do not miss the formal night dinners as the lobster and tenderloin were excellent. My daughter and I ate one night at Izumi and this meal is always one of our favorites! Order pre-cruise and you can make your reservations online before the cruise. We also ate at the pizza place and Windjammer and enjoyed these also. It wasn't till later in the cruise we noticed Windjammer had a country theme night such as , Italian night, Mexican etc so be sure to check your app. for details.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My daughter did the rock climbing, and ziplining, and carousel and I 60 something did the ziplining and carousel. Let me first recommend that if you have arthritis in your fingers and cannot make a tight fist, the ziplining should be avoided! I was glad it only lasted 7 seconds otherwise I would be dangling in a swirl over the boardwalk! Lol.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
After you board the ship be sure to pick up the show schedule and book your entertainment. Keep in mind your dinner time, shore excursions and port stops when booking. This can all be done on your app and makes for a relaxed vacation not having to worry about getting last minute reservations. Do not miss Momma Mia and the Aqua Show!!

Children's Programs

My daughter is an adult

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All the staff was working really hard so be sure to go out of your way to have your picture taken because otherwise the photographers do not roam around like they use to. Excellent service in the dining room and the room steward was great!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I was worried as this ship was not amplified ,but is was clean and a absolute joy to be aboard. I have been on 3 Oasis class ships, Oasis, Allure and Harmony. My favorite was the Oasis, 2nd Allure and 3rd Harmony. Let me emphasize that I love all the Oasis class ships! Allure has a pool in the Solarium!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was a partial obstructed window view in the front of the ship on the 11th floor. We loved this room as the window was floor to ceiling and sloped outward giving the room a larger appearance and place to store luggage. Just watch your head on the window. The obstruction was the helipad but we enjoyed the view and was identical to the one shown on the TV as we were just below the bridge.

Ship tip

Sit down at the pizza place , pick up a show schedule and book your shows before you have lunch

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We had 12 hours before our return flight so booked a day hotel pass on Ft. Lauderdale beach. It was a wonderful day with the ability to shower and nap before our flight.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

We visited in September and found it to be very hot. The beach we went to had a rope up so the water depth was only about 4.5 feet. The meal included at the port was fun and our snorkel excursion was well organized but the snorkeling was only fair.

Oranjestad, Aruba

We love to snorkel and the excursion to the Antilles ship wreck was wonderful. The water was so clear! We are experienced snorkelers and scuba divers but some in the group had trouble with the current and waves. We were just sorry we didn't book the scuba tour of the wreck. Again after our excursion we went back to the ship due to the heat but I would love to explore this port further.

Willemstad, Curacao

This port was absolutely wonderful. The beauty of the water, the Queens bridge and numerous things to do and eat make this port a must visit numerous more times or maybe even for a week! We did the Swim with the Turtles and Cas Abu beach excursion. Our tour guides were great and gave so much information during the 50 minute bus ride. We have seen sea turtles before but if you haven't this is a must. My favorite stop was Cas Abu beach. I could have spent all day there! Beautiful water and facilities.

Disembarkation

We literally walked off the ship with no lines, facial recognition for passport holders and were off at 7:45am.
