Overall great cruise! Looking forward to Allure having its revamp done. With this cruise being held during COVID, we did see some vast changes but happy we still went for our 5th anniversary. Will continue to sail on Royal in the future.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Fastest and easiest Embarkation my wife and I ever dealt with. Even with the whole COVID protocol. The new pre-checkin with the app makes everything more streamline and easy to do. Also the muster drill was great just watching that quick video and finished. Makes that so much smoother.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
First time getting the deluxe beverage package. Totally worth it! Wife and I had plenty of alcoholic drinks but we also had a lot of specialty coffee, smoothie, pop, etc. and the package definitely paid for itself. Will be purchasing it on every cruise we go on from here on out.
We also tried a few specialty restaurants this time. (150 Central Park, Chops, and Izumi)
All of these specialty dining options were fantastic! Would highly recommend to try these if you haven’t before. And of course main dining room was fantastic as well. You can never go wrong with the food/drinks on a cruise.
Probably gained 20lbs on this cruise. Lol
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Due to COVID, we found that there were a lot less activities. Especially on sea days. I understand that there were certain things we couldn’t do due to COVID but overall a little disappointed.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Aqua show was great but the ice show was terrible. Wife and I didn’t care for the theme of Monopoly and just didn’t find it a good show like the others we have seen in the past. Also the woman comedian wasn’t that great either. The live entertainment music was great though! Overall just a meh experience when it came to shows/entertainment.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our head waiter in the main dining room was probably the best we ever had. 10/10 on service! We met a bar tender in the Schooner Bar as well that we really liked. Service was great as usual!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Overall we loved the room and the size of the Junior Suite. The only thing that I would say is that on our balcony, there were some issues with the dividing walls and railings that were broken. We had to take paper and squeeze them between the dividers and railing so it would stop banging. On one side, on the 3rd day, the crew was washing the glass and balcony areas and managed to break a metal piece on the left divider. My wife and I spend a decent amount of time on the balcony. So a little disappointed on that part.
But overall the inside space was great. First time upgrading to a suite. Love the extra space.
Ship tip
Try to book all of your entertainment as soon as you board the ship through the app. We have done it before where we didn’t know we had to book anything in advance. Be prepared for that and also watch YouTube videos online before you go. It will help you navigate throughout the ship and get to know where things are and kind of plan what you might want to do. The Oasis class ships are so big, you might not get a chance to do everything. This is our second time on a Oasis class ship and my wife and I still haven’t done everything the ship has to offer.
Been to this port a few times now. Getting a little old and probably wouldn’t go back. Port itself if big and a lot of shops to visit. Problem we had was that the vendors were a lot more aggressive this time around if you buying their products. I understand that is how they make their living but I don’t like really pushy sales people. The first time we visited Cozumel it wasn’t that bad and fun to see everything. But this time with how pushy the vendors were, we don’t want to go back. For anyone that hasn’t been to this port before, I would still recommend it and to do an excursion. Lots of places to visit and Mayan ruins.
Very small port. Was neat to see for the first time but probably wouldn’t go back. If you aren’t doing an excursion of some type there isn’t much to do at the port. Fun little port but again, probably wouldn’t go back if we have the choice.
This is probably one of our new favorite ports. Would like to come back when COVID isn’t an issue to be able to do more things. But clean and fun port to visit. Looking to return in the future.
Do you know when the ship is getting a revamp? I am booked to go in July and was sad that they did not have the bionic bar or water slides. I booked a non refundable so we are going and hoping for the best.
