We did have an amazing cruise. First one back since March 7-14 2020. Never cruised on Royal.
Ship was too big and we were bored. Will go back to Carnival.
Embarkation

Everything was surprisingly smooth
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining was awesome. We like ease of buffet style for quick breakfast. One dinner and breakfast were ALL disgusting! They have pods instead of lines which leads to a hodge podge of chaos
Windjammer Cafe

Awful food. Runny eggs, watery cheese for tacos. My husband said Taquitos from a box would have been better. Very disorganized.
Onboard Activities

Plenty to do! Didn't care for the pool chairs at half capacity being toweled at 8:30. I watched several set empty for over 2 hours until people decided to show. No employees monitor. We usually go on Carnival and they remove towels if empty after 45 minutes. How could you get a chair when ship is full?
Entertainment
1 out of 5
The main comedy headliner was a juggling act that's done 500 Disney shows. What I'd expect to take my 6 year old grandson to. Not an adult 10PM show. One guest comic was funny out of others.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We had excellent service across the board. Everywhere
Ship Quality

Staff works nonstop to make things spotless
Cabin / Stateroom

Nice sized clean and comfortable.
Ship tip
This ship is beautiful but too big for us. Besides being unable to secure a pool chair at 8:30AM with half capacity we also had issues getting on a table in casino. Seemed like it was over ran with scooters and we were bored.
Dirty as always. Took taxi to Atlantis and didn't have vaccine cards with us so turned back. Paid to drive in circle. Found a stray dog and bought him food and hung out :)
Ive been on 7x Oasis class cruises, 3x were transatlantic crossings. Every cruise I meet people five days into the cruise who its their 1st time on an Oasis class, and they are just finding an area or venue on the ship. Lol. Yes, the Oasis class are huge and can be overwhelming for some if they didnt do their research ahead of time. Often newbies dont understand the whole "neighborhoods" layout of the ship. They are used to Carnival or NCLs everything in one area old school layout... so they miss a lot of the ship and say its boring. Lol. Researching each ship prior to your cruise goes a long way... especially on the Oasis class as each ship is slightly different.
Agree with other commenters, your review was a bit contradictory. Plenty to do, but you were still bored? Admittedly there are some differences between cruiselines in terms of overall vibe, but it seems you prefer the Carnival experience. Glad you managed to enjoy most of your cruise on Royal.
Well obviously I can’t speak to the shows since I wasn’t on the cruise but the rest I find very confusing. MDR was awesome! But dinner and breakfast were disgusting? Ship was too big so you were bored? The only aspect I can agree on is no staff enforcing the chair “saving” policies at the pools. They don’t enforce it and it’s always a hassle imho.
Sorry you were bored????? Maybe you missed the following: Diving Show in the Aqua Theater, Mama Mia Broadway Show, Headliner Entertainment, Comedy Lounge, Boleros, Jazz on 4, Central Park, Boardwalk, Ice SkatBolero,, Specialty Restaurants. Yeah, I'd be bored too!!
