This was mine and my family’s first cruise. It was a wonderful choice for a first cruise. We now have the desire to keep cruising. It is the 2nd largest ship currently. So it’s a lot of walking, but you still can learn the layout quickly.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We had a bit of a wait before we went inside as we had a late embarkation time and people with earlier times were late. Perhaps they should move to the back if they miss their time?
Otherwise. The process was orderly and moved pretty quickly. I hope these orderly processes stay long after Covid is gone.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was wonderful on the Allure. The staff everywhere on the ship were helpful and friendly. We didn’t have a bad experience anywhere. Our MDR waiter and assistant were Jun and Jerome and they were fabulous.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
To be honest, we had planned on doing a lot of things…and then got lazy. 😀 We we did enjoy our time in one of the jacuzzis on deck 15. We also participated in a trivia event. I won. It was a name that tune for Queen’s music. There was a lot to do and maybe next time we’ll do more. We walked around a lot as it’s a huge ship and there is a lot to see.
My parents went on this cruise with my son and I too. My mom enjoyed reading on one of the upper decks and my dad would find a couch out in the deck and take daily naps.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were fabulous! Mama Mia was a great show. I’ve always enjoyed the music and the cast did a brilliant job. The diving show should NOT be missed. They are so talented. We also enjoyed the ice skating show. My parents enjoyed the ventriloquist show. I missed it because that was the same time as a trivia event I was doing. My dad was amazed by the ventriloquist. He’s easily amazed, but still…
They had a line Bahamian band that would perform on deck 5 and also by the pool. They were very enjoyable to listen to and the lead singer has a great voice. I’m sorry I don’t remember their name.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone who worked in the ship was wonderful. Our steward, Raul, really took great care of us. He was so friendly and rendered so many things about us. Not sure how he did that with all of the rooms he had and with having to start all over on the next cruise.
Jun and Jerome were our waiters everyday for dinner. They were also friendly and personable. We never wanted for anything.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is huge. Everything was always cleaned and they were always working on maintaining anything that needed to be fixed or tweaked.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This inside Family cabin was large for a ship. Only 2 of us stayed in this room. I changed to this room before the cruise because my son had dislocated his knee and was on crutches. He was afraid he wouldn’t have room in a regular room to move around. By the time we got on the ship, he was able to walk with just a brace only, so it all worked out. We just had a huge room to ourselves. Great space. If I wanted to go to bed early, he would pull the curtain in the middle of the room and go hang out in the couch.
Ship tip
As soon as you get in the ship, schedule your shows and make dinner reservations. We had to switch to early dining because otherwise we would be eating dinner too late to see the shows we wanted to see. It all books really fast. Use the Royal app!
This was by far and away the best stop on the cruise. We literally had a perfect day!!! There are several different beaches, so you can choose the vibe that is right for you. Food is good. Plenty of shade. Huge pool. Lots of trams to take you around the island. Loved it! Other cruise line ports need to step up their game. This one has them beat!
