Oasis Class may be too big for it's britches.

Review summary

Great ports, Interesting Ship, not the best service. I think they may have outdone themselves on the size and being able to hold up the typical RCCL service on this one.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
2.5 hours to get on the ship with status and a suite? Ugh!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food had to be sent back a couple of times for being cold, room service was wrong literally every day (we finally stopped ordering it).

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The water show was amazing! The ice show was alright. The blue earth show was just downright weird.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The bar tenders in the Schooner bar actually made the cruise far better.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I think the ship was too big for them to keep up the level of service we're used to from RCCL.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great, we spent more time in here than we usually do.

Ship tip

If you expect a certain level of service from RCCL, you may be disappointed on this one.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Rented a car, drove around, found a nice quiet beach with less than two dozen people and enjoyed it!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
El Yunque was gorgeous.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
I really expected them to be doing drink service and never saw anything other than a beer cart go by. Beach was gorgeous.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I don't understand how getting off and going through customs was easier than getting on! Off in 9 minutes... on in 2.5 hours? Crazy.

I believe this may have been the day the ship moved from Miami to Fort Lauderdale so it was the first embarkation for Allure in FLL. Sounds like they had many kinks to work out that caused frustration to their guests that cruise. It sounds like embarkation got better for the trips after yours though.

Allure does have many superlatives, the entertainment district, Central Park and its restaurants, the quality of the shows for examples. However, we felt some of the overcrowding until we found the Solarium and the Solarium buffet, the Jazz Club, Schooner bar, Dazzles as places that were beautiful and entertaining without any feeling of being crowded.

I don’t know about you 2. All I’ve heard is how great the Allure is. Well, we will be trying it for ourselves in November. Will be the largest ship for us. Can’t wait!

I agree ..we did oasis of the seas 2 years ago and we felt the same ....too big for its britches nothing was consistent not the food, drinks or service...but u never felt crowded on the bigger ship which was the highlight besides the islands.
