Review summary

Royal Caribbean experience was simply incredible. They really know how to serve you well and make it fun with professionalism.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Royal Caribbean's new Terminal A is new, big and easy to navigate. If you have a suite you have a designated entry avoiding the crowds.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room offered superior service levels, personalized attention and very good food. We selected the My Time Dining which offers either reservation or simply walk in any time. That option worked great. The steak was average but the horseradish crusted salmon was absolutely incredible.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The fitness center, like the rest of the ship, was larger than life. However, the recumbent bikes were old and very poor shape.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There were 2 shows that were simply incredible and received standing O's - the Aqua Show and the headliner who was a comedian/juggler. Both involved audience members, with incredible talent and great humor. The third and fourth shows brought my overall rating down - Momma Mia and Blue Planet. In fact, I walked out of Momma Mia during the break mostly because I did not like the story line and partly because of the subpar singing with distorted sound system. I endured Blue Planet despite the distortion of the audio and the weak cast.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff on Allure are simply amazing. Always positive, upbeat, kind and willing to help in anyway possible. It is hard to imagine such a solid collection of hard working folks.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Talk about a ship - Allure of the Seas - is the 2nd largest cruise ship afloat. Yet very accessible and well maintained. The variety of things to do and design are well done. We took full advantage of the reserved Suite Sun Deck, Suite Lounge and the Coastal Kitchen. They were great resources and wonderful places to chill.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The single bedroom AquaTheater Suite had 2 balconies and sported the largest room size on the 14th floor. Being in the far aft it was a walk but well worth it when you enter the rooms with ceiling to floor / wall to wall windows. We took pictures of the incredible sunset.

Ship tip

On the first day arrive early and get lunch before the other 6,300 guests crowd up the options.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

We arrived 2 days early staying in Miami Beach and saw the sites on our own. Very nice but beware Uber drivers are highly varibale and english is a second language.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Nassau feels like a 3rd world location with the dock entering into a very old collection of vendor stalls that smell like a dirty urinal. We did arrange for a snorkeling adventure which took us to a coral reef past Paradise Island. The waters were incredibly clear allowing the bright sun to light up the great colors of the fish.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We arranged for a tour of Tulum on our own with Alma LDS Tours. My wife and I ended up with a single tour guide who was incredible. He had studied the Mayan culture in college and brought to life the ancient culture and spiritual perspective of the fascinating ruins. Bring comfortable shoes as walking in dust is unavoidable. But how amazing!!!!

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We did not sign up for an excursion but walked the port area which was set up for the cruise ships. The price of wooden items like carved boxes and statues were very affordable. More so than the food options.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Snorkeling was cancelled due to winds. But the dock is well done catering to the cruises.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Remember over 6,200 people and 2 doors!!! However, the suite guests had a private guide take us off the ship. Definitely set out our luggage the night before and pick up in the terminal. Much easier!!!! I would mark the location for the Uber pick up better but it is easy to ask someone. But very crowded once you exit the terminal.
