Wonderful experience for the family, but the meals and ports of call were lackluster.

Review summary

As I noted above, my family of 10 (including me) had a wonderful time due to the offerings on the ship. We were all extremely disappointed with food, so much so that we would not book another cruise with Royal Caribbean. We have gone on many cruises with other cruise lines and have never had anything bad to say about the meals. Very disappointing!

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The ships main dining room was good but I never got one piece of good tasting, well prepared fish the entire cruise, nor surprisingly was there any desert claiming to be "chocolate" that actually tasted like chocolate. The buffets were repetitive, with a lackluster variety, and generally not well prepared. It was a hardship to get an egg white omelet for breakfast.

Egg white Omelette says it all.

I found the food to be wonderful on the Allure! They could learn from Carnival to make a chocolate melting cake. There was something for everyone. I looked forward to the vegetarian fare in the dining room.

My husband and I are going on our first cruise with RC in April (on The Allure of The Seas). We've bell on 2 Carnival cruises and the food was amazing!! Come on RC, don't let us down

Many times I consider the, "very disappointed" opinion as a possible fact that they did not receive what they were "expecting." In other words, the expectation was much higher which leaves everyone disappointed. I find it hard to believe of all the dining choices, not one place even met a satisfactory opinion.

I’m thinking this is a fake review., as I think of any review where there are no cruises listed and this one says they’ve been on several cruises but none are listed

My last Allure sailing, the buffet food in particular was much improved. Of course the menu repeats because for breakfast people expect bacon and eggs daily. For lunch, they expect salads, sandwiches, burgers. And then there are rotating items added in. For lunch the MDR really does a great job and the buffet inside MDR is quite nice. Park Cafe is consistently tasty for breakfast and lunch. They have made strides to improve the pizza. Are the complimentary items gourmet? Nope. But there are some rather tasty items. Few people leave Allure having lost any weight.

I agree with you about the allure. RC crams as many people as they can on the allure. As a result you get mediocre food and service, kind of a cafeteria grade. Plenty of food but not very appetizing. In RC's defense, you get much better Service and food on their smaller ships. We love Majesty.
