Review summary

We enjoyed it very much and RC is our chosen cruise line, however, the edge was taken off by failing to honor our onboard credit because we did not notice that we were required to 'claim' our offered credit 21 days prior to departure. This is not necessary with Vacations to Go, so we will not use again. It strikes me that this requirement is sharp practice by in that many people will not spot this in the small print. We therefore lost our onboard credit. One must also ask why it should be necessary as I doubt anybody will turn it down ! Very unhappy about this, especially since our agent (Eddie Malone) could quite easily have reminded us about this requirement. No stars out of 5 for or Eddie Malone !!

Embarkation

Was OK, but very crowded in the departure lounge.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was very good in the main dining room. Buffet was nothing special.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Mostly mini golf - about all my titanium knees could manage!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Children's Programs

No kids - obviously !

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Mostly excellent, but the odd bit of rudeness, notably when my wife did not get served in favor of men at the bar.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Very good. Our 3rd trip on the Allure, so we knew what we were getting.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Not our first Allure cruise so as expected. Balcony room overlooking the sea and very nice. Clean, enough room and comfortable.

Ship tip

Don't book a cruise on one of the big ships if you are unhappy about crowded areas. Think about days at sea. The first 3 days we were at sea and that was rather one too many !

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Got on, got off. We live close by.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

3 out of 5
Still suffering from the effects of the last hurricane, but OK.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

4 out of 5
Enjoyed Puerto Rico fort visit. Also liked the cafes and spanish feel to the buildings. Bit different to other ports of call.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
No excursion, but noticed several improvements since our last visit there 2 years ago.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Excellent. With photo face recognition embarkation was a breeze.
