Review summary

This is not a traditional cruising experience, as the ship is set up for families. Few people observe formal nights. That said, as an older couple, we did enjoy it overall. The ports in the Western Caribbean itinerary don't offer much unless you like to snorkel and dive. Overall, we liked the ship and would cruise this class again if we found an itinerary we liked.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had expedited arrival and it was fantastic. Checked our passports, scanned us through and walked right onto the ship...No lines...By far the easiest embarkation ever.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The specialty restaurants were good; however the main dining room food was sub-par. Food was served lukewarm and meat was not cooked as orders. Servers were great, but couldn't make up for the food. The buffet was a disaster...crowded, disorganized, and when you found where things should be, they were out. We tried breakfast there twice and gave up and went to the main dining room instead. The dining room breakfast was much better. Park Cafe was great for lunch, we ate there everyday.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lots of activities, didn't seem particularly crowded on our cruise...We didn't notice any really long lines

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We enjoyed all of the shows, the pianist in Schooners, and the guitarist in the pub. The comedy show was good, but it was the same every night except for the last night. It would be great to offer several different shows during the week. Make reservations before you sail.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Although not as outgoing and friendly as many ships' staff, everyone was pleasant and efficient.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was our first time on an Oasis class ship and we enjoyed the different neighborhoods. It was well maintained and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We didn't realize it, but this cabin adjoins to the suite next door. During the cruise, we had several instances of the neighbors (probably children) trying to open our door. Because it is adjoining and has a door, this cabin only has a chair rather than the standard couch. However, it is on the ship's angle which provides a little larger balcony.

Ship tip

Fill out your paperwork and make dinner and show reservations before you go. It is time well spent - will speed up embarkation and allow you to plan your schedule.

We went on the excursion to the Mayan Ruins. Highly recommend it.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We used the Luggage Valet program and highly recommend it. Allowed us to walk off at our leisure and we didn't have to dig through the luggage room to find our bags. It is amazing how quickly and efficiently they dealt with nearly 6,000 passengers. Very impressed.

Eastern Carribean in my opinion has better itineraries.
