Review summary

What a beautiful ship, and a great crew to match. We loved our trip and booked our next immediately when we got home on her sister ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
By far, the easiest embarkation I have ever had. Arrived at the port around 11:00, was onboard by 11:30. Never waited at all, except for security lines, which can't be helped.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Overall, food was very good. there were a couple of misses in the MDR and the buffet, but most items were very good. Loved the choices for breakfast in many area of the ship.

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

Went to Chop's twice during the week. Ask for Rageev, he is probably not only the best waiter I have ever seen on a cruise ship, but anywhere at all. He was awesome and very attentive. Food was great, had Filet first time and opted for the Strip Steak the second. Strip was even better than the filet! Cooked perfectly.

Giovanni's Table

4 out of 5

We tried Giovanni's table, and enjoyed it even if we didn't necessarily love it. My wife and I love Italian, but have simple tastes, and struggled to find something on the menu we wanted. The staff was VERY accommodating, and basically made a meal that we wanted. I will say I enjoyed it more than my wife, as I was in the "pasta mood".

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

Loved Johnny Rockets! My wife felt that her milkshake was a little too sweet, but that was the way they made them back in the day. Great lunch! get the onion rings!

Windjammer Cafe

3 out of 5

Windjammer for this size ship is way too small. I understand the idea of getting people to go to other venues, but people are used to going to the buffet, especially at breakfast. Early in the week people did not realize they have other options and "defaulted" to the Windjammer in the morning. Later in the week it got better as people found the other venues.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was always something to do. Never a dull moment. Be sure to take part in the 70's night activities. We had a blast!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
This is RCI's strong suit. All shows were top notch. Didn't love Blue Planet, but not bad either.

Aqua Theater

5 out of 5

Do not miss this show. And on other nights, they had movies out here. A great venue!

Children's Programs

No kids. But I will say, we were told there were 6404 guests, 1338 of which were kids. They must have enjoyed the kids programs because we hardly saw them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was great everywhere on the ship, from our room steward to the restaurants. Jimmy Rhodes the cruise director, and Grant, the activities manager, have great chemistry. They both love their jobs and it shows. They were both awesome!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
What a beautiful ship. No matter how many videos you see, reviews you read, you are not prepared for the pure size and beauty of this ship. Simply put, it is incredible. many times I had to be reminded I was on a ship. That has never happened on any cruise I have been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Boardwalk balcony. Pretty quiet but when someone decided to yell from the top decks, you still heard it.

Ship tip

Eat breakfast in one of the many alternative locations, and avoid the Windjammer as much as possible.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Embarkation port

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Loved Labadee!

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Loved Jamaica! Port area is great for shopping.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We have visited Cozumel many times, and love this port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy. Sad we had to go.

Jingalls3: Great review and an essential tip. Maybe the tip is more valuable for the RCCL cruiser that has not been on Oasis class. Because we were accustomed to the great selection in Windjammer and its capacity to handle volume on the smaller RCCL ships. For you first timers, there are cruises with great service, some about the food, some about the entertainment, but you picked a cruise where you can enjoy the best of all of these. Just remember to pre book, days or weeks before the cruise, your main shows and get there at least 15 minutes early. Then enjoy!

How exciting! We are cruising on Allure for the first time - first time with RC and these reviews are wonderful!

Daisy09: You are going get spoiled and will never want to sail on any other. Debbie and I are heading back the week before you cruise and we went just last October. Just leave yourself open to having a good time, don't be shy about meeting new people, and treat the staff well and you will be rewarded with a great vacation! Happy cruising!

Jingalls3's: everything you say is spot on the same as our first Allure cruise. Which ship did you book for next cruise?

I love your review. Makes me even more excited for my cruise on the Allure on April 15th!!! It's my first time ever cruising and seeing reviews like yours makes me sure I picked the right ship for my first cruise!! Glad you had such a good time :)
