Review summary

The cruise was perfect for us as we wanted a trip that had as many sea days as this. We were able to rest on the sea days and read our books and just enjoy life.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation out of Fort Lauderdale is much easier than out of Miami. You can see the parking lot from your balcony. I like that! No problem with processing us onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This was our 83rd cruise (not all of them on a Royal Caribbean vessel). The food was above average; especially in the specialty restaurants. We ate in Chops twice and Giovanni's once. The main dining room was good to very good. We were at Table 264 (Anytime Dining) and our two waiters were superb. I believe the dining room we ate in is called the Icon.

Giovanni's Table

5 out of 5

Wonderful Italian food served perfectly. Very comfortable atmosphere.

Chop's Grille

Outstanding food. Excellent presentation. Superb service and wonderful wine. Can't say anything more than that. It was perfect!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
They all looked great but at my age finding a nice lounge in the shade was the extent of my activity. I never had a problem locating a chair in the shade.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I only went to the Ice Show and it was fantastic.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As I wrote earlier, this was our 83rd cruise. We are very tuned in to good and bad service. I have to say, every server, steward, ship staff person I dealt with was a credit to RCCL. We are one 3 day cruise away from Diamond Plus and have always been treated well by staff.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Oasis class ships are certainly designed well. The Icon dining room chairs were extensively stained and took away from the beauty of the room. A minor point but one that management needs to address.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was immaculate. Our steward, Hamilton, was a joy. Even though gratuities are mandatory nowadays we still gave him a substantial tip as we felt he gave us wonderful service.

Ship tip

Always try and get a balcony mid-ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We did not do an excursion. We've been to Lauderdale many times. We particularly love the port as it is easily accessible and parking is great.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Hurricane damage obvious but still enjoyable. We did not do an excursion.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We did a driver tour for several hours. We've always loved St. Thomas and it was sad to see the storm damage.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Same comments as St. Thomas.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We whereof the ship before 6:30a.m. We disembarked carrying our own luggage. Loved it!
