Review summary

Sailing on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas is like nothing else!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Although it seemed a little hectic when we arrived at the terminal, we moved through relatively quickly and before we knew it we were on the ship. Keep in mind that there are over six thousand passengers that need to get on board, so all things considered, the process is actually pretty smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food is excellent and there is plenty of it. Lots of gluten free options. We took advantage of the Deluxe Drink Package and found that is was very good for us. I liked not worrying about how much I was spending on drinks and we could pick one up whenever we wanted to.

Giovanni's Table

5 out of 5

Great place for good Italian food. Nice location right off of Central Park.

Izumi Hibachi & Sushi

5 out of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed the hibachi experience! The chef was hilarious and the food portions where out of this world.

Chop's Grille

5 out of 5

Very nice place for an excellent steak dinner. The atmosphere is elegant and the service is top notch.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There are so many things to do on the ship that we were not able to do all of them. We really did enjoy shopping, the casino, playing putt-putt and visiting the spa.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Overall, the entertainment on the ship is excellent. The stage and ice skating shows were awesome. We also really enjoyed the karaoke in the 'On Air Club.' The only thing that wasn't so great was the headliner show.

Children's Programs

We were not traveling with any children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff go out of their way to make sure you are having a good time and that you are satisfied with everything. We'd asked for ice in our stateroom once and from that point forward had ice waiting for us every evening. Our main dining room waiter and his assistant were also awesome. They remembered what we had to drink the first night and never asked us again, just brought the drinks to us each night for the remainder of the cruise. Our waiter also took great care of the gluten free member of our family. Each night he would bring the menu for the next night so that the gluten free meal would be ready when we arrived in the dining room. Overall, the service we received from everyone was excellent!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All areas of the ship are clean and well maintained, including areas the passengers don't always see. We took the 'All Access Tour' and got to go behind-the-scenes into the galley, engine control room, bridge, and laundry facilities, and they were all extremely clean! It was refreshing to see that everything is so well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We don't spend a whole lot of time in the cabin, so this inside cabin worked well for us. It's not super roomy, but there is room to move around and it has plenty of storage space. We kept all of our suitcases under the bed and I hung a shoe organizer over the bathroom door to store everything that didn't fit in the bathroom storage areas, which worked very well. It was also very quiet in the cabin which made for a very comfortable stay.

Ship tip

Make all of your show reservations before sailing and allow plenty of time between dinner and the show.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We did NOT do an excursion in Nassau and now I wish we would have. When we got to the end of the pier there were so many locals 'barking' at us for taxi rides and tours, etc. that it was quite uncomfortable. The area around the pier was also very crowded when trying to return to the ship. So my advice if visiting Nassau would be to definitely book an excursion.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We took the Barcardi Distillery Museum tour and really enjoyed it. Would liked to have had more time in San Juan to visit one of the fortresses.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
We took a panoramic scenic tour of the island and loved it. This place is beautiful!!! We went to the top of the mountain and saw the most beautiful views...it was amazing.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We took advantage of the "express" disembarkation and it worked like charm. What we liked most about this option was being able to keep our luggage with us the night before we got off of the ship. That did mean that we had to bring all of our luggage with us when we got off of the ship, but it really didn't bother us at all.

Ok. We will keep our luggage and then just head out in the morning when we would like?

Just take your luggage with you in the morning of the last day. Don't put it out the night before.

When is the express offer offered? On debarkation in FLL we have to catch a plane at 8:15 so we really need to get iff the ship ASAP. So it would be great if i could get that set up.
