Review summary

Great ship - it is one of the best RC has - to visit the Western Caribbean. Lots of fun things to do on the ship, shows were great especially Mama Mia, the Ice Skating and the Diving Shows. There are a good variety of eating options other than the main dining room and buffet.

Embarkation

Boarding was very smooth and faster than expected

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate at all of the "included" dining venues. There are several breakfast and lunch options other than the buffet. We usually went to the Solarium Bistro for breakfast and the Park Café for lunch where the salads and sandwiches are excellent. We did "My Time" dining and found the food and service was also excellent. The pizza café gets very busy in the evening as does the Café Promenade as both are good places for people watching. For a more relaxing area, go to Park Central in the evening. TIP: Plan your cruise activities & shows - diving, ice show - Mama Mia - ahead of time on the Cruise Planner website, lock-in your reservations and then make your dinner reservations to avoid conflicts or being "booked-up".

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the Zip - Line and the Climbing Wall. We spent much of our free time in the Solarium enjoying the pools.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Ice Shows (2) were great, Mama Mia was fantastic, the diving show was impressive even the afternoon "kid's show was funny for adults. We went to a "behind the scenes" presentation with several of the cast members and learned about all the work that goes into these productions. The evening "70's" show on the promenade deck was the best; get there early for good seats. We sat in the Schooner Bar and could look down on the "party", the Cruise Director was next to us between his "performances" and we enjoyed speaking to him. If you enjoy piano music, be sure to hang out at Schooner's. TIP: Make your reservations in advance before you cruise

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was uniformly friendly and helpful; we had no "poor service or attitude" issues

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Really easy to get around. We only experienced elevator wait times after a major show or parade. There was no motion, the ship is very stable for our cruise

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Overall, it was nice. A little tight but better lay-out than on other RC ships.

Ship tip

TIP #1 Make your reservations ahead of time for the shows and other activities and then make your dinner reservations to avoid conflicts. TIP #2: The Windjammer will be very busy for lunch and dinner on your embarkation day; eat at the other many options to avoid lines.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

We love this port for our cruises

Nassau, Bahamas

Most everything centered on Paradise Island.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

We did no excursions at this port other than taking the Skylift.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Our favorite stop on the trip. Friendly people and the island tour especially Fort Brimstone, was very enjoyable. Our tour guide was great, a former MD who now serves as a tour guide so he can spend more time with his family.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Went very smooth getting off the ship but US Customs took 1 1/2 hours of standing in line

You are absolutely right. "Mamma Mia" is an outstanding show and any Aqua Theater show is a must. There is simply nothing like the Aqua Theater. It has to be one of the most technologically advanced and unique show venues on any cruise ship. The Aqua Theater itself is an attraction. When you think about what you would pay on land to see each of the production shows that Royal Caribbean provides on their ships, you begin to appreciate the value of cruising on an Oasis class ship. Royal Caribbean has extremely talented performers, production crews, and top-notch venues.
