Review summary

Good 6 day starter cruise but for our family, it was too large of a ship with too many people. The shore excursions were all very good. Activities and entertainment on the ship were good, but I enjoyed the offerings on our Celebrity cruise more.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very fast and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining was good. Three meals in specialty restaurants were very good. Buffet was a little disappointing.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Son enjoyed some of the activities for teens, but overall he was a little bored.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
All the entertainment was good. There were a few game shows that were definitely (young) adult focused that I did not enjoy, but they were advertised as such and the target demographic seemed to really enjoy them.

Children's Programs

Son is 14, and I assume this is for younger kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was excellent everywhere. They are always happy and willing to make you happy. We enjoy talking with them and building a relationship over the days.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Similar layout to the Celebrity ship we were on last year. No issues with the layout, but this is only our second cruise. No issues with cleanliness - common areas and bathrooms were always well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We upgraded to the “spacious” balcony room so we had more space traveling with our teenage son. It is still a small space but was as expected. Room was well maintained.

Ship tip

5pm dining eliminates wait time, but it is early for dinner. No good food options after 9pm other than room service. Focus on learning ship layout on first day to save time getting around.

Ports of call

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
Our excursion was to Coconut Cove, which was a nice area that we really enjoyed. Bad part is the 45 minute ride each way to get there, so there is a lot of lost time there.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Ride was 10-15 minutes from ship. Good beach area and plenty of activities. Food and drink service was good.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We were off the ship as soon as possible, and enjoyed the full day at the Beach Club. We did not visit other areas, but saw them in passing. For us, the Beach Club is worth the money to have the space and “luxury”. I would highly recommend to book it.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy, we skipped breakfast because we had 12pm flight and were worried about how long it would take, but I think it was only 15 minutes.

Nice review and glad you had fun. I’m curious as to the details of why you preferred Celebrity. Most I’ve heard say it’s more of an older crowd so with a 14 year old in tow I’m a bit surprised.
