Review summary

As I said above, Royal Caribbean is not what it was. They cry about their huge debt but are putting out 3 new ships this year. Many repeat Royal passengers were not happy about the cutbacks. I will go back to Princess and Disney.

They told everyone to arrive 1 1/2 hours after they were supposed to get on due to a medical evacuation -there were 6 ships in port and it was chaos.

Royal Caribbean is doing alot of cutbacks-there was no lobster tail night unless you paid for it. If an item you wanted was not on the menu (ex. shrimp and we know they had it) you could not have it. The whole classic side of the menu is gone. Bottles of wine that were on the menu were not in stock. Giovanni's was the same-I asked for a fruit plate for dessert and was told no-its not on the menu (the Windjammer is right thru the door!) We are diamond members and have been sailing for many years but Royal has lost me as a passenger.

We got the same feeling on the Explorer at the beginning of 2024. RC lowered its quality. It is time to look around

Sorry, people, cruises should not just always be about food. I have been cruising for 20 years and food had always been awesome. Again, not about food! It's about making memories with who you are with. Can't get back that time!

I was told no lobster tail night on cruises less than 7 nights. I know now even on lobster night you get one. Any more are an extra charge. I do think the food has gone down hill overall, but it’s not the issue that would stop me from going on Royal. Cruising in general has gone downhill yet the prices keep going up. Much more and they will be price inhibiting for us. We will find a vacation that gives more bang for my bucks. Cruising used to be the best bang but not as much so anymore.

I agree. 5th cruise with RCCL since 2015. I'm now on Independance of the seas and if I compare from 2015 or even a year ago, food is on the downhill side...Buffet is just about cafeteria style, the Royal Lunch included with The Key, filet mignon is now so tiny, it's actually been cut in half! Main dinning ok, but still, remember better days. I understand food is now pricier. But, RCCL must keep in mind that food is part of the cruising experience. 😉 Other than that, I'm enjoying the whole experience.

We cruised on Royal last year for New years cruise, it was not good. I think cruising at that time of the year is the problem. No more holiday cruises for us.

If I were you, I wouldn't be screwing around with any of these El Cheapo lines. You need to go to Azamara, or maybe Ponant.

Ref your Beef with Royal Caribbean. My CCL Venezia Italian style cruising the food was extraordinary really good for all my 18 days. Two of the nights they gave us the lobster tail with filet mignon at no extra charge. Also short ribs every other evening. All the beef products were cooked to profection. See my review Dec 10-18 and Dec 18-28-23. We did back to back. No need to even go to the specialty restaurants. All 18 nights at the main dining and even on the Ledo Deck the food was fantastic. Also I know the other end of bad beef products on a cruise look at my Princess Cruise lines on the Caribbean Princess, I experienced your beef issues on your review on Aug 14-30-23. I didn't hold back on my beef.

I’m puzzled that you booked a cruise to a port you dislike. Also not sure how big a deal it is about the cheese plate if you know you can grab the items in the buffet? Cutbacks are a thing industry wide. As someone with status I would think you’d know that? Seems you didn’t like the food so for you, it ruined the whole cruise.

Thank you for your review. There was a Lobster Tail night on our cruise because I had it. I didn't pay for that Lobster. Maybe because it was Christmas, I don't know. Also, things happen. We were on Adventure right before you, Christmas week. Someone got sick and they HAD to evacuate them in Grand Turk in order to be flown to a hospital. Heck, I don't even know if that person survived or not. Hopefully they are okay. Also, on our way back the sea was a bit choppy. It was WINDY as all heck and the ship was rock-in like Robin 😅, so this also slowed us down some.

It was a New Year cruise and things gave changed... sad, but that's how it is...accept it and enjoy what you can, or try something else
