Review summary

First Royal cruise in 9 months. Quality of food and entertainment have gone below standards expected and received on past Royal cruises. What has remained consistent is quality of staff. Royal seems concentrated and spending dollars on new, bigger ships designed for younger crowd and entice more on board spending. Will look to Celebrity and Norwegian before booking with Royal again.

Food and Dining

First time with new main dining room menu. Food was bland. Shrimp cocktails and crème brûlée not available every night. Only one small lobster tail allowed is a joke. Even filet at chops was low quality cut. Buffet was okay. What was unchanged was great service by waiters. Noor and Aye were excellent.

Onboard Activities

Scheduling wasn’t good for early diners. No “life changing prizes” for trivia. Blamed by staff on supply change issues. Doesn’t seem like a reasonable excuse. Another cutback?

Entertainment

Featured Elton John like performer was definitely not a class act. Comedian and juggler were also below past standards. Stage shows were just okay.

Service and Staff

Room steward Helen as well as Noor and Aye in the main dining room continued the high level of service we have experienced in the past.

Ship Quality

Our balcony needed work. Room steward did what she could, but rust, stains, etc. need major attention.

Broken closet door, phone, balcony all need attention.
