Review summary

We cruised Royal before kids and then cruised on Disney until my girls were old enough to go back to Royal. Unfortunately, we spent the cruise comparing how much better Disney was to Royal. The quality of food and menu creativity has decreased with Royal. The elevators often didn't work or wouldn't stop on selected floors so we ended up taking the stairs. The kid's rooms were closed too often which disappointed my kids. The on-board app had wrong information. We won't be cruising Royal again - going to try Norwegian.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Royal Caribbean rolled out new menus for the main dining rooms and they were very repetitive. On a 5 night cruise we had the same appetizer 3 times, the same beef 3 times, and the same dessert twice. We started having dinner in the Windjammer which had a better selection of food.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
They close the kid's rooms for a 2 hour lunch and 2 hour dinner which made no sense because not everyone is on the same eating schedule. Too often the kid's rooms were closed when my girls wanted to be there. Very frustrating.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My girl's loved the kid's rooms when they were opened which was limited.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
You could tell that they had less crew than from previous sailings cause it took a long time to be served dinner in the main dining room

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The exterior windows were never washed which made it difficult to see out

Cabin / Stateroom

Agree that Disney is more on top of things - plus they’re geared more to kids. I would try RCCL again someday without kids & hopefully you won’t be disappointed.

Appreciate your feedback. Interesting comparison. I hope you find something that fits your wants. You may just end up going back to Disney. I’ve heard that it’s unbeatable.
