Review summary

We are accustomed to sailing Celebrity, but chose Royal Caribbean due to Kids Sail Free. Our party thinks it’s a notch below Celebrity, but just slightly. Overall, a very enjoyable cruise, despite occasional lines due to COVID protocols and a fully sold-out ship. We will sail Royal Caribbean again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Traffic control could be improved, but otherwise seamless.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was consistently tasty and well prepared. Would have enjoyed more lunchtime variety at the Windjammer—for example, Asian cuisine.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were nicely maintained and fun. Fitness center served my needs well. We didn’t participate in many of the activities team’s events.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Highlights were Nicola Ward and Rechell Sears. Do not miss either of those headliners! Other headliners were decent. Can’t Stop the Rock was the better production show.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My toddlers enjoyed Optix’s open play area. However, hours were very limited.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always, excellent. Shout out to Roderick and Marlon in the MDR.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
An older ship, but it carries its age well. It desperately needs more internet satellites. Like, two or three times more.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Met our family’s needs well.

Ship tip

Do not expect fast internet. Do not hesitate to complain about unacceptable speeds and request credit back. They accommodated us.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

4 out of 5
Poor traffic management, but otherwise just fine.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Gorgeous port of call with friendly folks and lovely beaches.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

4 out of 5
Nice beaches here, too, but a slightly less beautiful island.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
My least favorite port. More a chance to go to a CVS or Walgreens.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Maybe the highlight of the voyage. Picture perfect island paradise.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No complaints. Fast and easy.
