We primarily go with Royal. Adventure is a midsize ship. It won't have all the new bells and whistles, so if that's what needed for your fun, I wouldn't recommend it. But if you like relaxing time, sun, dining, etc, a great ship and it is well maintained.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
It was terrible. Royal is supposedly enforcing the check in times. We had an early time and the line was insane! On top of that, the ship was only 60% occupied.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Restaurants, including specialty, were all as we remember. Never an issue with quality or service where ever we dined.
Johnny Rockets
1 out of 5
I've always found Johnny Rockets to be mediocre. But on a sea day, it was a change of pace for lunch. But the food quality was just down right nasty. Service left a lot to be desired as well. I don't know if the staff in the restaurant was all new, but I didn't see any of the servers being responsive to any of their tables. I never expect this to be like the dining room, service or quality-wise. But this experience set a new low for Johnny Rockets for me and will probably be the last time we go to Johnny Rockets.
Duck & Dog Pub
5 out of 5
We visited at least once a day. Great place to visit.Normally... they have a good variety of beers. Due to supply issues which many companies are facing, Royal is facing with certain beer shipments it seems and a number of the beers weren't available this sailing or the previous one.
Schooner Bar
5 out of 5
This was another regular spot for us. Sometimes for events, sometimes when nothing was going on and it was a quiet spot. Schooner bar always seems underrated as bar options, but one that we generally like and on Adventure it doesn't disappoint. And it was our pre dinner drinks before Chops which is next door!

Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff was suffering from not insufficient staffing. This I think affected morale. So at times, with certain staff, you didn't get the typical cheerfulness and smile. Everyone has a bad day, and it can happen on any ship, but there was just more of it on this particular sailing.
The majority of the staff were quite cheerful. Always smiling and happy to help.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I thought the crew did a great job with cleanliness all around the ship. A little higher than it was in the past, yet a little lower than when a norovirus outbreak had occured on that sailing or the previous sailing where sanitizers were used entering most facilities. But whether norovirus, covid or just general colds and illnesses, I like to see the crew keeping the cleaning to very high standards.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Excellent maintenance. Excellent cleanliness. Great cabin steward!
The last miles to get to the port, not so much fun. But it's location to the NYC area, is fantastic.
The parking situation is something to be desired now that there are 3 ships though. It appears parking for Adventure is now in a lot that is good walk away (unless you are using a handicap placard). They do offer buses to move people back and forth, but of course this distant (or as the air port would call a parking lot requiring a bus, long term parking) doesn't come at a discount for parking.
I will mention the checkin problem again as I don't know how much this is the port vs. Royal. But they did not appear to be enforcing the check in time. The line was very long and we had an early check in. And since the ship was only at about 60% occupancy, this was insane. The check in times makes sense, but instead of having people inside waiting, you now have a mob pushing together outside, so it doesn't accomplish too much.
We enjoy a good beach day. I do like Perfect Day better, even though we don't use the water park. But I still give this a 5 star as it is a great beach day.
