Easy trip for those who live in Texas to get away!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation at Galveston was quick and easy. We parked at the Lot A Express lot, so it was literally a few steps to check in. The facility is dated but it gets the job done. Staff was friendly and welcoming.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food onboard is goo, nothing crazy to write home about. We did two days in the Main Dining Room, two days for dinner in the Windjammer, and one night at Izumi. Go for Windjammer at dinner - it tends to be less crowded and the food is just as good!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was definitely a lot to do on the ship as you can tell Royal Caribbean is starting to bring more entertainment options back to service. No sail away party or parade in the Promenade but, there were plenty of mainline shows, bingo, activities, and get togethers.
Sports deck (flow rider, water slides, rock climbing, mini golf, and basketball court) were always busy.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Main headline show on the last night was funny but a little cheesy. The ice show is not to be missed! Spent a lot of time in the Schooner bar with the live pianist. Great music and drinks!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All staff members on Adventure of the Seas were warm and welcoming and willing to go above and beyond. Our room steward, Alberto, was friendly and worked like a ninja in the background to make sure our room prepared and welcoming!
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Adventure of the Seas is a great Voyager class ship. She’s not like an oasis or even like the freedom class but she offers plenty to do. This ship definitely needs it’s Royal Amplified makeover, as you can tell it’s becoming well used and there’s lots of creeks and rusting here and there. Hopefully Royal will make that happen soon! All the facilities were clean and well-maintained and staff were always wiping things down.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Cabin was located right above lifeboat and there was a creaking noise that could be heard at night. The sleeper sofa rubbed and creaked too when the ship moved. Furniture was “well worn” and this ship definitely needs a little makeover in the cabins. Blue bathroom and tired carpet are hopefully a sign Royal will give this ship some love soon!
Ship tip
Skip dinner one night in the main dining room and hit up the Windjammer. So much less crowded and the food was just as good!
Be aware of tourist scammers and those who will lure you in. If they start to speak to you and you can’t understand ask for someone who speaks English or the language you need or just walk away.
There is a free shuttle you can take into Progresso to get into town. Be aware that you are about 2 miles away on a giant pier where the ship docks. We paid for a tour which took us in but you could easily walk on the beach and no one would question you.
Quick and easy process from Galveston! Don’t need your passport it for the facial recognition. Easily went from room to leaving the building in 10 minutes.
