Review summary

The cruise experience was fantastic and enjoyed every minute of it. It had been awhile since I was on a Royal Caribbean cruise and was not disappointed. From the people to ship to the activities great experience. If I were to make any suggestions which really are petty is to add some more variety of shops in the prominent and a candy shop

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was smooth. Didn’t take very long from the time we arrived to the point we were crossing onto the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We didn’t take advantage of any specialty restaurant only main dinning room and buffet. The food was fantastic. We expensed our lactose and gluten free diet prior to the cruise because they asked, I didn’t expect anything different and was ok with that but was I wrong. They expected us, had gluten free bread waiting for us and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. They told our order the day before and even make special lactose gluten free versions of what we wanted in some cases. On the last day they had a special dessert surprise for us. Dexter and the assistant waiter Valeria was fantastic and the head waiter get 15 out of 10 . Was surprised to see lobster tail on the menu for day 5. I enjoyed every meal and the buffet had great options as well. I do recommend that if you are doing the anytime dinning to schedule your dinning time before the cruise. It seems to defeat the idea of anytime dinning but only 8pm was available. It workers out great for us though.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were enough activities to do and didn’t have time to take advantage of everything. I’ve been on a larger ship that seemed to offer even more options but we were never bored and feel there was a good balance of things to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We went to 2 shows we enjoyed the voices and tenor show. We did go to the LasVegas show (we didn’t know the theme and left quickly, it just isn’t our style. The shows we saw we enjoyed and impressed with the talent.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top quality all the way. I referred to our outstanding service in my food referral, top quality going above and beyond all expectations. The room service was fantastic as well q

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Never any issues. The ship was always clean, and well maintained. The ship had a good flow to it. I would have liked to see the solarium with an ocean view if I were designing it but it is a good ship and would sail it again

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an ocean view balcony. Very pleased with the room. For some reason the room seemed larger than we expected. Loved having the balcony and enjoyed several sunrises from the balcony. The bed was a comfortable king size. There was enough space for our clothing. Our room attendant was awesome.

Ship tip

Go to Paradise Beach when going to Cozumel. Take the taxi there $15 ride or share cost with another, $3 per person entrance fee but you need to spend $10 food and/or drinks. Loved the food and the service is top quality. They have a pool and beach and beach has WiFi and lockers.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

We took the taxi to Paradise beach at the end of the pier. Taxis are easily available for the return as well. Top quality beach. The cab is $15 you can split the cost with another if you find someone else going there, cost $3 per person entrance fee but they expect you to spend $10 on food/or drink. The food was awesome. They have WiFi on the beach, you can swim in the ocean or pool. Beautiful surroundings, loved it

George Town, Grand Cayman

We did the 7 mile beach excursion and wouldn’t do it again. It was a waste of money and sort of crowded spot with the umbrella tax police. We did happen to experience our first earthquake while there Jan 28 7.7 mg quake. This was unusual for the location and there really was no real damage or injuries, it was a very wide range quake and very brief. So we were safe.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

I didn’t do an excursion here. I have in previous cruises so I know there are things to do. It isn’t reflective of the port but the taxi to the cruise port took forever, that was due to the traffic lines going into the port. I was surprised

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
Excellent excursion going to the Chacchoben ruins. Our tour guide was like Dora the explorer, teaching Spanish and Myan words. Very interesting didn’t keep rambling on one topic. My husband especially loved this excursion.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Because we had an early flight we decided to do the self carry of our luggage. Extremely fast and smooth so much easier than I expected.

Glad you enjoyed it. We were on AoS in November and loved it. We though the food was excellent and there was more than enough to do on the ship. I’m surprised to see some recent reviews with complaints about the food and lack of activities on the ship. I’m not sure what more people could want as far as food or activities.
