Great cruise on a very nice ship. Port Canaveral & Miami are normally cruise ports so this itenarary gave an opportunity to do excursions rather than focusing on getting on/ off the ship. Coco Cay is well worth visiting for all age's. With 4 days at sea, there was plenty of time to relax!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Very smooth process. Your picture was taken at the registration desk and matched to your passport and then added to security screening. Youe seapass cards were waiting for us in our room. Picture will later be used to speed disembarcation. Most people rushed to the Windjammer but it did not open till 11:00. Rooms were available shortly after 12:30
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We used My Time dining on deck 3. We made advance reservations and had to change them only once. We never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated. The food was very good. There is a basic menu of appetizers, main courses and deserts with 2 new items each day. The French onion soup & coconut shrimp were my favorite apps. The steaks and fish main courses were very good. The best desert was the apple tart with ice cream. Lobster on day 7 (I had the prime rib which was a better choice) and turkey/ dressing on the last night. Did not eat at any speciality restaurents
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Plenty of things to do on the ship. The new water slide was very popular. There is a 2 deck mini-golf course. For those who want to rest/ read in quiet, go to deck 4. Note that a lot of the activities do center around selling you something
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The singers and dancers were good putting on 2 production shows. The lead singer, Kathy Jo, gave a one woman performance of Adele songs that was fantastic. The ice show (2 shows on night 4 and 1 on night 7) were excellent. The guest group, The Company Men, were also excellent.
Children's Programs
no children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our room steward, Richard, was very attentive and informative. While we were using My Time Dining, we frequently were placed at table where Raquel and Jean knew exactly what we wanted; mind readers. Everyone we encountered were friendly and helpful. On the last night, there is a "farewell" production show with the entire senior team, including the Capitan, and representatives from all divisions marching up on stage to sing a "goodbye" song to us. There were close to a hundred on stage!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was easy to get around. There will be crowding at the forward elevators after a production show. Just remember, food is aft. Cleaning was constant and it was always "washee washee time"
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was not large but it worked for the of us. We did not spend much time in our cabin except to sleep. Richard kept it clean and we had plenty of towels and hot water.
Ship tip
Windjammer can get very busy for breakfast after 9:30 and 1:00 for lunch. The main dining room is a good alternative or get a table outside on the deck.
Port is a bit isolated and expect to pay $60 + from the airport. Embarcation was smooth. There is a great view of Manhatten and the Statue of Liberty from the ship.
Did a 2 hour bus tour of Greater Miami and a 1.5 hour walking tour of the Art Deco District/ South Beach. Great tour but wish it had been a bit earlier as the walking tour was very hot at mid-day. The Art Deco District is very eclectic.
Been there several times; main emphasis seems to be on shopping with the first 2 streets off the port area crammed with jewelry stores, etc. Waling around by youself seemed safe but consider a bus or walking guided tour if first visit. We did a sunset boat tour around Paradise Island that was really nice.
You will have A Perfect Day at Coco Cay! There are 3 beaches, a huge pool and a children's play area that are "included". The water slides (one is 130' high), wave pool, hot air ballon, zip lines and other activities are extra. There are 2 outdoor food pavillions staffed by the ship's crew. Lot's to do or simply relax on the beach/ pool with plenty of chairs.
Very smooth and fast; did not fill-out any forms or even meet with a customs agent. It is all done from your photo. However, this may not apply to everyone.
