Review summary

I think this ship is in need of an update. Our bathroom floor had chips, the towels are worn out, there aren't any USB plugs. When we did purchase wifi it wouldn't work. The lady next to the computer we used said the same thing. It was way too slow. Also the last two mornings I had a cold shower. Not fun. Our bathroom sink water was never very warm and was just a trickle any time of the day. And our shower water was uncontrollable. It appeared it could be adjusted but it couldn't. I had a stye on my eye and was supposed to use warm compresses but I couldn't get warm water. That was uncomfortable the entire week for me unfortunately. But it was still a fun cruise in spite of the inconveniences. I enjoyed the food and thought the gluten free food was delicious!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our friends got sick after eating at Johnny Rockets. With the high Cover charges at all the specialty restaurants we didn't want to go to any of them. Our food in the dining room and Windjammer buffet was superb. On the first night our excellent head waiter, Mario, table 143 and his excellent assistant, Krishna, caused is to make reservations with them the rest of the cruise. Can't say enough good about that wonderful team! Nor can enough good be said about the fantastic food! Thank you!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the pool and walking all over the ship. Great exercise! We also enjoyed our balcony. The tour of the galley was very good. I wish it could have lasted longer but understood that it could not. Thank you!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ice show, dancers and comedians were terrific! We enjoyed both shows featuring the comedians and dancers. We appreciated the clean entertainment! Thank you! We enjoyed the music of the female vocalist and her band. And loved the reggaé music and steel drums!

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
EVERYONE we talked with was so nice and friendly as well as helpful. As I mentioned earlier in the survey our waiter, Mario and his assistant, Krishna were beyond GREAT!!! They were so attentive and never acted as though we may have asked for too much. They always answered our many questions courteously. We'd even search them out when eating in the Windjammer. Great, great servers!!! Couldn't say enough good about them!!! Our stateroom attendant, Igede Astika, was fantastic as well. He also ALWAYS greeted us with a smile. He was very accommodating and took very good care of us. Couldn't say enough good about him!!!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
3.5*. Sometimes it was difficult finding the restrooms. By day 4 of the cruise the toilet water all over the ship began to smell. That was disappointing. Getting to the Lyric Theater was a challenge having to go through the smokey casino. The Royal Promenade was beautiful both in the daytime and at night. I enjoyed the bands along the way. I liked all the places to get outside and walk around or just enjoy the sights. The cutouts were neat throughout the ship to view the interior or exterior. We enjoyed the fro-yo on deck 11. I did wish there were more pools.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ok, you asked. I am a neat freak. I bring along my cleaning cloths wherever I go. There were a couple dusty shelves and some dust under the bed. I really don't think our attendant could possibly do the in-depth cleaning the ship needs with so many rooms he was in charge of. Igede NEVER complained. We questioned him about many things. He was always attentive, cordial, kind and friendly. He made me feel safe. I forgot to mention to him the safe batteries probably need changed as it was sounding weak. However I was disappointed at the lack of plugs. Only 2! And no USB plugs but 2 phone jacks! I wish there were plugs in the bathroom. The bath towels were nice. But the washcloths and hand towels and bath mats were quite thin with the trim being loose on some. However the size of the room was adequate. It was nice to have a refrigerator! The closet was spacious. There was plenty of storage. And the bed was so comfortable! That was a pleasant surprise! It was nice having such a big mirror. And the TV being on the hinge was nice. And we loved our balcony!

Ship tip

DONT BRING AN IRON OR IT WILL DELAY YOUR GETTING YOUR LUGGAGE! I did many reviews of our ship before cruising but never did I see that information. Also it was difficult finding out about the number of formal nights and what was acceptable to wear.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We loved Puerto Rico. We arrived there two days prior to sailing so we could do our own touring. The airlines lost my luggage so it caused us a big change in plans for a whole day. We thoroughly enjoyed touring the forts and rain forest. What a gorgeous island with wonderful friendly people.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We couldn't afford the ship's excursions so we'd do our own on each island. We enjoyed watching the planes fly low over the beach.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

3 out of 5
We took our own tour. It was very sad to us how poor each island was with either the very rich or the very poor.

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
We enjoyed getting off the ship at each port and taking our own tour. Each was about the same.

Castries, St. Lucia

These people hounded everyone like crazy. It reminded us of Jamaica. Then they wouldn't be truthful with us.

Bridgetown, Barbados

5 out of 5
It was a fresh experience. We enjoyed the shops very much at the port and then returned to the ship. It seemed so clean with friendly people.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had number 23 so the wait seemed quite long to disembark. At first we thought that would be great since we didn't have to rush. But then the wait got a bit tiring. However our lugggage apparently got taken off sooner than expected and we could leave sooner than anticipated. It was amazing to us how organized it all was. Finding our luggage didn't take us too long.
